Trevor Neufeld: Is Positivity Enough? – Historic – Looming Questions - Trevor_Neufeld_
Thanks Trevor! The culture shift is huge. The only "core" to be moved should be Andersen. Based on exit interview I think he want to get paid & looking longterm. Both I understand from his point of view but something Conroy absolutely should not do.
The hope for me is that Andersen & Dahlin enjoy playing with each other at the worlds & agrees to an extend & trade to Buffalo for Byram, who sounds like he wants out of Buffalo. Great opportunity for him to play with Weegar on top pairing & let Bahl ride shotgun with Parekh. Makes total sense.
Then the question I wonder what you would think is would people be ok with trading Zary to Minny for Rossi? I love Zary, now probably due to injuries, Zary was playing on the 4 th line. Kinda like Rossi playing on 4th line in the playoffs. Could be a make sense trade for both teams. If Conroy can pull off these two trades I would be pretty happy. If Andersen not agree to extending before the trade I would imagine we would have to throw in one of our 2025 1st rounder picks.
Our top line center will probably need to be held off until the 2026 draft. But Rossi might give us a 2nd line option with Kadri & Frost, the center looks quite a bit better going into next year.
Those are my wishes |

Flames probably would have won the Cup this year if they'd only just made the playoffs. Really don't see any team that would give them a challenge. Would have won a Cup in just 16 games unless they got some bad bounces. Oh well, instead they'll just have to watch and pick 18th. |

Personally I hope they can get a hometown discount and keep Ras but if thats not the case Conny needs to move him. If he goes to market, I would prefer we leverage Ras plus picks/prospects to take a big swing for a young A prospect center.
This could include moving up into the top 4 or 5 of this years draft or getting a young C that is currently in the league.
We have some D depth in the system so hopefully 1 or 2 of those guys are ready next year. |

Good article Trevor!
Time will tell if they are building a team culture, but it looks positive. - DuranDuran
A good start to improving team culture would be to replace Backland with Weeger as captain. |

Thanks! Wasn’t sure I was happy with it, but it grew on me during revision. |

Anderson to buffalo for Byram is a good swap even with a pick added and then maybe try move up the draft but not at a high cost cause have 2 years to evaluate farm before spending big in my opinion, patience and see what the system has before using that cap space |

what if Anderson is traded to MTL for the CGY pick (16th overall) and a young player? CGY gets their pick back, Habs get their RHD. Obviously the return of a 1st (16th) and a player is just an idea, I have no idea about the value needed to balance this trade. |

Depends on the young player but that’s not terrible idea with the young D we have needing spots yup |

Depending on the young player, but knowing Conroy & his retool mindset the player would need to be getting close to NHL ready. |

not sure what the Flames need in terms of young players. Could be a LHD, Habs have a few that could fit the bill like Struble |

Don’t need D need to make room for some guys looking to make the jump, ya this started with Byram but that’s a sure fit top 4. And foolish not to make that trade if offered |

If they trade Anderson, who can eat his minutes? Not that he was doing a great the later part of the season.

Morin is looking really really good in the playoffs. He's breaking out to be a contender at training camp although he'll likely get a year with the Wranglers but keep an eye on him. |

Well if Byram is truly on the block in Buffalo, that would be an excellent fit for us. Play him with Weegar & Parekh with Bahl. Let the chips fall for the 5-6-7 |

I think you break Parek in slow. He is just out of just out of Junior. I would be hesitant to pencil him in on the top 4 minutes.
How did Bzrustwicz end up fairing last year? Are we still hopeful with him?
Edit: I absolutely think they should be going after Byrom if he is available. |

Coming along just fine, didn’t look out of place in the finale but a year or two most likely |

Parek looks ready but if after 6-7 games he’s struggling send him down no harm done gets a taste and works on his game like after the humbling in training camp he went down and worked his way up and was awesome in that finale |

I believe with Parek its NHL or Junior. I think he is too young to play for the Wranglers. But I could be wrong.
I can't think they would be sending him back to the OHL. In a worst-case scenario, could they loan him to a team in Europe? |

He’s 19 , but I think he’s NHL ready unless like I said he gets schooled in first 6-7 games which I don’t believe he will , his best shot at success will be flames line up |

After the returns we got for Hanifin, Zadorov, Tanev, that’s a good return. Why not include Huberdeau at 25% retained, for 16 and 17. He had a pretty good year here in Alberta, imagine him back home.. |

Wishful thinking! That would be a dream come true trade for the flames !!!🔥 |
