I would trade Cam York's rights, or let him walk for that kind of money.
Get what you can for him and move on.
We have plenty of D-men we can bring up and who are looking for their shot.
We don't need the headaches. York's not that good. Top 4 NHL D-man? Maybe on his best day, but hen was his last "best day"?
Unfortunately I have to agree with this assessment. I went nuts when they passed on Caufield and made my peace with it knowing York's pedigree coming out of the U.S. national development program. However, he has been inconsistent and if he's developed a tendency to not listen to the coaches, he is exhibiting signs of not wanting to play here - especially not signing an offer before free agency begins. Tells you a lot that he hasn't signed yet. It's not money only. Something is still lingering from the whole fallout with Torts, which from what I understand, went all the way up to Briere. He may need to deal him for an asset. We need several pieces to begin this season, let's see what DB can do. I don't see how they can plug all the holes with the remaining cap space. They may need to move someone, and this is the someone.
