Appreciate the guest blog, Octavarium - good work.
I've also now been given some kind of admin magic powers, so the posting process should be more streamlined. Or at least it will be more directly my fault if there are major delays. Wait... what did I just agree to again? |

Nice blog. Thanks for contributing!
It was a fun game to watch. I wonder if it would have been more heated had Brassard not been injured. That seemed to settle things down.
I don’t agree that the media is making too much of Ryan Reynolds. It’s exciting. Let’s have fun with it while you can. It’s getting fans and not fans engaged. If he becomes part of the ownership group, great. If not, it was fun seeing him engaged in our little team. The telethon is fine but I struggle with the idea average joes need to pony up dough while watching a game of a team will be sold for 1 billion dollars. But hey, that is capitalism for ya. The cause is fantastic.
I think the Sens will need to look for a goaltender this offseason. Banking on Sogaard and Forsberg is risky. Forsberg will be coming off 2 knee injuries. Is there a precedent for that for a goalie? Seems like it might be tougher to recover from than most injuries.

Assume that's you khawk? Looks like your name's been given a rebrand as your post is under 'Sens Writer'. Very much on the nose. Thanks much for everything. |

What's more important for next season, a starting goalie or a new coach? |

It appears to be the case, not exactly sure why. Nobody said anything about losing my HB identity as a consequence of being given the admin right to post blogs. Do I still have a soul?

With no horse in the race, Kastelic is Tom Wilson level of female genitalia. Embarrassing display of his lack of manhood, fighting a guy just coming out of a fight. Pathetic. |

I don't think Sens fans care much about this one way or the other. Kastelic has had a few good scraps. Deslaurier might be a step up in class for him. But, officials broke it up. Nothing happened or did I miss something?

I have been neutral on DeBrincat since he was acquired (I was even more cool on signing Giroux at $6.5x3).
But DeBrincat's fight against the Flyers really warmed me up to the idea of keeping him. It was not the actual fight as much as it was the response from his teammates. They clearly value this player. |

It's a relief knowing Tkachuk won't have to do any of the fighting anymore. I'm sure everyone on the team feels much more at ease when DeBrincat is out there keeping the other team in line. Or maybe, just like everybody else, they were laughing because it was hysterical.
Sure they thought it was great that the little guy was able to stick up for himself but once the laughter dies down the focus will be on winning and the money that is needed to acquire the pieces that are needed in order to win.
Once again, they simply can not afford to pay a second line LW, any second line LW, 8+ million dollars. That is why they will never attempt to acquire Pierre Luc Dubois, and he wouldn't even cost as much as DeBrincat and he's a center. This is the salary cap reality. |

Holy smokes it's official. Out of left field, the Sens have been bought by a dark horse consortium led by none other than the Gliebermans. Bead nights to follow. |

I was looking through the standings wondering about next year and the teams we can expect to fall off and those that should improve. Pretty safe to say Boston will be very good but they will slide back a bit from their record pace of this year. Also expect Tampa, Pittsburgh and Washington to fall off. Think New Jersey, Buffalo, Ottawa and Detroit move up from their current point totals. Other playoff contenders should stay about where they are.
The team that leaves me entirely perplexed is Montreal. They are not very good now. They have drafted flashy, undersized players and it is hard to imagine much if any improvement. I see Columbus showing some improvement. Philadelphia and Montreal staying close to Chicago for the best lottery odds.
If Sens play winning hockey in October and November they will make the playoffs. As will Buffalo and possibly Detroit. |

Thanks for the kind words all.
Tonight’s game is ho hum. First goal was weak. I like Holden as a human but damnit he plays soft. Florida isn’t gonna lose to Columbus. We will fall behind tonight despite Boston doing us a favor. |

The nail in the coffin were the Chicago and Vancouver losses. |
