Hossa’s skin condition is cleared up, and his contract has expired. He’s the perfect wing for Bedard.

Am I the only one that thinks Korchinski should play his 8 games as a Hawk and then go back to Jrs? I think he still needs to develop more defensive awareness and the Thunderbirds are going to worse this year giving him an opportunity to spend less time with the puck. And he would be the top defensemen for the Canadian team for the World Juniors. Thats the valuable experience he can still get to learn. In addition I want to see Isaak Phillips and perhaps Roos as well get some time as a Hawk to build some trade value because in all likelihood he will not be a part of this teams future but could bring a decent return if they show up decently this year.

Nope. There are plenty of people in all three camps (stay all year, down all year, give him 9 games). The two most likely, I think, are 9 games, and down all year, but if it clicks during camp who knows.

Well, to be fair, the skin condition cleared up because he hasn’t been playing.

Richardson likes Allen b/c Nolan plays mean like Richardson did.

So we are going to see the Hawks stretch Korchinski's tenure of 9 games into the Christmas Day holiday when he returns to world Junior?

I see noting wrong with him lining up and lockering with these other pro defenders and practicing and learning with them.

So if there is no tenth game and his contract starts in season 2024-25, when Frank Nazar arrives, it seems like both their second contracts will be easy to structure and continue renewing as they improve their impact, instead of simply playing KK if the needle doesn't continue to show he deserves a place (but to be a cling-on at 7th dee seems like a job one of the Rockford rank & file maybe more suitable to fill.)

But the bottom line is you want that "extra" to be a defender you can fill with w/o any misgivings.

I think in theory what Richardson said is a good idea. I remember so many time visiting teams would visit Chicago and play rookie defenders, and after each and every period the one of the coaches would stop the rookie go over the period's play. You need that for the kids, but the kids also have to respond and show advancing technique, and positive games, or your best bet is to send them back, even if their current abilities may seem higher than the other junior rearguards.
The lessons the pro staff has given still has to be implemented by the player ...in junior. Repetition there in the dub can help. Not all walk in and take control in pro game. And they are talking about pulling his reins back.

Has Bowen Byram taken his rightful spot as a number one all around defender yet?
And his shot is way more deadly than any of these hawk long shots.
You hope he gets there before that second deal is more that Byram's current 3,850,00, so his play is value before he wants a MUCH larger deal.

KK looks like younger than 19 but that doesn't mean he cannot carry his share and learn on the job. The team need SEVEN defenders to lead them to the playoffs this year? Doubtful...

Subject change I just read on The Athletic that was called "5 NHL teams most likely to regress" and the had Tampa as a team that may not make the playoff.

This shocked me, b/c though I am not a fan the coaching is high end and the top end is still so good.
My argument against are all the teams I just know are not as good and cannot be better than them, but if it happens and the Hawks draft at say, #16 with that second first rounder, well that is a quite enviable slot for this year's class.
In my humble opinion, right now, that ends the tiers of closer to ready to be in the bigs.
We may NOT get the luxury of a top six selection with our own pick, so grabbing two guys who won't be making the club for three years works, especially if they do win the 2025 lottery with outstanding top players in Michael Misa, James Hagens, and Porter Martone. Will there be lots of ping pong balls in the 2025 lotto or just few because we pull away from the bottom, and hope that any and all ping pong balls come in large in the earlier acquired first rounder prior.

Allan plays mean like Luke Richardson? What the (frank) are you talking about? Allan isn’t a shrinking violet but to suggest he plays mean mean is ridiculous. And comparing that he is close to being as physical as Richardson was, is absurd. Ethan Del Mastro is more physical than Allan and he is nowhere close to how mean his coach played.

I think I’ll just let KD and LR make the call on Korchinski, as they’ll be around him and will be able to assess his development much better than I ever will. Maybe being around pro coaching is best for his development, or maybe another year in juniors, we shall see.

He has to prove he can play better defensively and make better decisions when he has to rush or not. In the rookie games he showed he isn’t great in either area.

And I do not believe that KK dominated in Juniors last year as some are suggesting. Perhaps he may this year if given the chance and that would be best for him.

Here's a quote from Luke about Allan via Ben Pope twitter -

How Pope can discern from that quote Allan has an outside chance to make the team is a real stretch IMO.

Why don’t we all see how he actually acquits himself against NHL players before we make any assumptions on where the best place will be for him to play this year? Maybe he needs a ton of work, maybe he did a ton of work in the offseason to improve his deficiencies. He’s had two practices FFS.

I agree, from what i saw he was okay, but like most of the kids other than Kaiser no one really stood out on the blue line. Maybe just maybe he'll be a better fit with LR? Maybe not but speaking of LR he's already said,

"One thought process from a coach doesn’t work for every team, just [considering] the dynamic personnel that they have and what they can execute."

So I'm wondering as we get better we see more tweaks to his system?

And for me his emphasis on defense i really appreciate, basically wants Reichel to use his skill set to be better in the dzone.

I think we need to cut him some slack, just like the Blackhawks he's in preseason form, he's that rare bird that instead of criticizing the team he thrives on criticizing fans of the Blackhawks who are critical of their team, in therapy i believe they call that coming out sideways. Hahaha

If you had comprehended what I criticized you’d have understood that Wiz hadn’t criticized the team. But I guess reading comprehension begins in Grade 8.

KD has shown he doesn't care about the 10 game threshold and burning the first year. It could be 15 games, whatever they think is best for the player.
