I remember seeing him ref, back in the early '70's at Maple Leaf Gardens. He wasn't one to call too many penalties and would often see a play and a minor infraction, telling the player that it was a 1 minute penalty, but if you do another you'll get 2 in the box. One of the best referees that I've ever seen officiate. |
