12th in voting and 12th worst in the standings. Makes sense.

That 1985 series was the last I believe of the 2-3-2 format. By winning game 2 all the Oilers needed to do was win at home and the series never returned to Philly.

The Flyers weren't the 12th worst team this year? They are picking 12th in the draft and finished in 21st place.

Also game 4 in 97 was one of my favorite games. Big E delivering again after the hat trick in game 3 was awesome.

Apparently, jd250 forgot to submit his ballot with Torts as the top pick.

Unless you are speaking from an existential point of view, they finished 21st. Which is 12th worst.

Tocchet was a worthy winner, congrats to him. He'll always be a Flyer to me, as a player.

desperate for MJL’s approval, eh? 😂

Didn’t he say we shouldn’t bring Michkov over right away given the chance? 😆

I would say so. I don't think many had them even close to the playoffs let alone one game from the conference final.

Another black eye for jd.

Next up is the TK extension. Will he take a hometown discount in years or pay? It’s a bold strategy cotton, let’s see if it pays off for him.

Yes, they turned things around quicker than expected there. The coaching staff did a helluva job.

Not long ago there was talk of a robust analytics staff at Flyers HQ. We haven’t heard about it in a while. I assume it’s because they are working tirelessly to provide player evaluations for coGM Danny Briere?

Could be helpful to unearth some gems this offseason. Also might help in contract negotiations with TK. I wonder if they have input?

Tortorella's a systems coach, and a task master. The Flyers don't have a lot of talent so they rely on responsible systems play, the problem with that is, without talent he overplays the guys who can pull off what he's teaching and they become exhausted by mid January. That and he personally becomes too much, so the guys tune him out.

If they extend TK with the current state of the roster I don’t think I can even feign concern for this franchise any longer.

I have family ties to the Sabres. Might be time to jump ship for the slightest of improvements

The Fyers are kind of like family to me. They suck sometimes, but I still love them.

It must be rigged. He finished 12th in the voting. He got 2 2nd place votes and a 3rd. How can a guy go from the favorite to bust in 12 games?
- Minnyhock

No doubt those three votes he got were from the Philly media. Stockholm syndrome is a real mother(frank)er.

Wasn't the extention of Ristolainen done a short while after this new "staff"?

They were, that's why they have the 12th overall pick.

I like how he deflected blame for Couturier breaking down because he "didn't have a crystal ball". I don't think you needed one to see the danger in playing Couturier 20 minutes a night after he just missed almost two full seasons and had two back surgeries.

But the alleged shoe-in for Coach of the Year thought it was a good idea to healthy scratch his second best center option 11 times in the first half of the season.
