Goodness, if Laine at C is the big swing we need to become relevant again, we are in an even worse place than I think we are in.

Jeez, that’s why happens when a coach doesn’t understand how to moderate someone’s minutes. Fing Torts!

That was honestly a scary article to read. The headline then reading the beginning part made me think "Uh oh here it comes". Luckily Bill threw the twist in to squash and debate on Laine.

That was like reading a 30 second thriller novel.

Laine, only 2 years, I assume his value is low, will their be multiple teams? If not, take a look, he is playing for his career, could be a good trade chip if he plays well.

He averaged under18 min per game his lowest in over 10 yrs. Do you really believe if he played 16 min per game he would have had a better season.?? Couts results is not on Torts and I am not a Torts defender. Couts is slow and the NHL is a speed game. Couts is a quality 3C no longer a top 6 player( on a contending team)

Does he have a NTC...If he does he isnt waiving it to come to philly when some contending team will take a shot at him

Not sure what team you watched last season but there were definite long stretches where Couts played insane minutes night after night and was one of their better players. The fact he broke down towards the end of the season was something that could have been foreseen. All this talk trashing him is unwarranted.

Has a partial no-trade. But right now, apparently, his bigger goal is get out of Columbus.

Until he missed two games with an injury in mid January, he was averaging 20 minutes a game.

You think there will be some bidding for him? I know the talent but after last season and his known attitude issues, will a contender want to risk it?

That's just it. I think interest is down. He may not be able to choice where he lands.

Couturier's average ice time per game was affected by his demotion and reduced playing time in the 2nd half. Take a look at what his ice time per game was in the 1st half of the season. A healthy Couturier is definitely a top 6 NHL player. His game was never built on speed. His average skating as well as his high hockey sense and positioning, is fine for the current NHL

No one is trashing him just saying on a contending team he is a 3C and last year his TOI was his lowest in over 10 yrs and 2 more less minutes per game would have had no impact on his season.

I am sure it is but he will have better options than coming here. Moot point Flyers shouldn't and wouldn't have any interest.

Couts is no longer a top six C on a serious contending team. Agree his game was never built on speed but with knee and back problems he is even slower

Demotion certainly affected the ice time but he was terrible in the second half of the season.

That depends on how he comes back. If he can get back to where he was, which is possible. He would be a strong 2C on a lot of teams.

Sounds like selke winner played through a sports hernia and maybe isn’t as cooked as we thought. Makes sense with the drop off. Kinda sad that torts threw him under the bus but maybe they all didn’t know.
