Just playing out the miller for necas scenario:

Kreider - Mika - Necas (7x7)
Panarin - Trocheck - Laf
Cuylle - Chytil - Kakko
Rempe/Vesey/Brodzinski/Edstrom/any minimum level signing with Goodrow bought out

Lindgren (4x4) Fox
XXXX Schneider (2.5x2)
Jones Trouba

Leaves us with $2.7m to play with and a pretty glaring hole on LD.

Necas is a great skater. That's his best attribute. He's not great at anything else, but he's a solid 2nd liner. Miller is a capable 2LD. But CAR has Slavin and Orlov at LD already. Not sure they would want Miller for Necas even if the value is fair as CAR might strongly prefer a RD, or maybe not even a Dman at all depending on what they expect from Chatfield.

For Carolina, they get some cost certainty for the year and upside potential. This could be an option - and again, we are stretching the bounds of reason here - if both Pesce and Skjei go elsewhere. But I put the likelihood of a deal as remote.

I would think if Carolina is going to lose both Necas and Guentzel, they are going to be looking for a forward via trade and not a D-man. Why not just sign one? Looks like Guentzel will likely hit the open market. Why not try and clear space and take a run at him. As a Penguins fan, Guentzel is the real deal and will help any team he joins.

According to Friedman, Seravelli, and Pagnotta, there's no shortage of teams interested in Necas. I personally think Necas is nothing special, but I don't think Miller alone will be valuable enough for CAR to consider. Like I said, Miller might project to be their 3LD in that lineup. 11 days ago Friedman suggested that VAN was asked for a future 1st and top prospect or Hronek straight up for Necas. I wouldn't be surprised if Tulsky wants futures instead of roster players for Necas.

Either I missed it because it was lost amongst the bickering here or I straight up forgot but either way, what was that about?

Meaning the conversation on if he can play right wing. Thought that was a topic of conversation at the trade deadline.

Believe it was he would have to adjust to the off wing but have to go back to the multiple discussions and confirm.

This is what I wrote the day Guentzel was dealt to Carolina:
"At the end of the day, Drury decided not to part with either for a rental. Hard to blame him even if Guentzel would have been a good, maybe not great fit. Guentzel is a proven playoff scorer, but he would have been asked to move from the left to right side, which is not his strong side."

I'm hoping Drury is offering Goodrow and Kakko for either Rossi (under 1m) or Zegras (5.75m).

I would much rather one of those two Centers instead of Necas.

If its Rossi, I would then sign Tanev (last year 4.5m) and Marchessault (last year 5m).

Tanev and Trouba... imagine that?

Marchessault is the natural RW for Kreider and Mika.

If its Zegras, I guess it's one or the other, Tanev or Marchessault.

Happy Father's Day to all.

Jan, you're a good son honoring your dad today.

I just wanted to drop in and say happy Father's day to all and to Jan. I know what you're feeling. I lost my Dad in 2021. The first of everything is difficult. First Christmas, first birthday, first Father's day. It gets easier. Never goes away but gets easier. Sorry for your loss and to all who have lost their Dad.

If you are Minnesota who is in cap constraints or Anaheim looking to the future, why would you be making that deal?

Thank you on kind words

To me --- Miller is worth a bit more than Necas straight up. Young top-4 dmen are much harder to replace than a 2nd line RW, even if he were going to be deployed on our first line. Couple in the fact that he is going to cost MUCH MORE against the salary cap makes this a PASS!

Happy Fathers Day to all!

I’m a no on Miller for Necas. We already have to find a replacement for Gus (not a big deal) and im not sure signing Lindgren long term is a smart move. Only way im Ok with trading Miller is if our left side looks like this 👀👀

Well said.
This is my 3rd Father's day without my dad and just had the 1st Mother's day without my mom, which happened to fall on my birthday.

Looks like Olaf Lindboms time with the NYR is done. That was a WTF draft pick at the time and turned out, everyone except the people that drafted him were right.

Karl Henriksson’s time with the Rangers could be over also.
