So, what's plan B if Haaktuah is unable to play. Is the deal forfeited? Does he go to Robidas Island? Who takes his place on the bottom pair and PK?

Trade not finalized until he passes a physical. If it doesn’t happen, it’s Rielly, Tanev, McCabe, Benoit, OEL and Lilli in whatever combination turns your crank.

If Tree has to walk Marner to free agency, it is just one more of a string of massive managerial errors this team has made in the Shanahan era.

I am guessing you would rather keep him and run it back?

psst...I have a newsflash, Marner has a NMC. If he doesn't want to go anywhere then he isn't. Nobody is "walking him to free agency". He'll take himself there.

If he DID have an option to move him, what would he get back realistically that is as good as Marner is for this coming years playoff push? If you think he's overpaid and playoff underperforms then what team has 11 million in cap space that wants those issues and with players they 1. want rid of 2. are good enough to slot in for what the leafs would want in return? 3. Any player coming back would be salary dumps too so it's not like there's 11 million in cap space and which free agents this year could they have signed that they couldnt already sign or wanted to be a leaf and was turned down due to cap space? If it's only "picks and prospects" you want in return which team has the full cap space for it? Otherwise you're taking cap dumps and they wont be close to what Marner offers.

If Marner leaves in free agency (and I hold out hope that Tree did the first ever sign and trade with Chucker that he can do it again), then you get the FULL cap space available to you along with JTs. It's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Is it ideal? no but it's better than being strapped with poopty contracts purely to "get something back".

Newsflash back at you: Neither Marner nor Nylander had a complete NMC for their entire contract. The core should have been broken up and one of them moved *years* ago. And now they have mismanaged themselves into walking one away for (frank) all. Well done!

(But keep defending the management Aaron! 👍)

lol which GM would have moved Marner after his 99 point season? Or his 97 point season? Or Nylander's great seasons? Which one?

Hindsight is 20/20

You can keep "holding them accountable". It's working so well for you

Nice deflection from answering any of the questions. You clearly just hate for the sake of hate with no actual knowledge of hockey outside of EA Sports games.

Tampa, Florida, and Vegas' GMs would have moved one of them. They are ruthless and not afraid to make hard decisions. And they've all won.

We've got a dithering management group and a segment of fans (like you) who are very ok with losing.

Which top end talent did any of them trade away in their prime with 99 point seasons? Huberdeau doesn't since Chucker was the better player. Nothing was "ruthless" about it.

Vegas has yet to trade a TOP guy away. They acquire them but you think letting Patches go was some ruthless move?

I'm not "okay" with losing but I just dont let it ruin my life as you do. It's just sports man. It has no bearing on my actual life win or lose. If you're right ever, congrats you were right. Doesn't change a thing in your life.

Also keep deflecting to the original questions about how you can trade Marner now for something worthwhile and to which team/for which players/prospects/picks since you seem to know it all.

Ruining my life? Great fiction, bud.

Enjoy the losing - I just don't.

It's not hard to imagine where else the team could find a grand total of 1 playoff goal and 2 playoff assists.

Trade him wherever he will be willing to go, if unable to get the right pieces for the team take the futures.

Talked to a lifelong Oilers fan at a party today, he was drinking lol

A guy told me the Leafs will win in 2067. I agreed, but also this year.
