Past tense - I "preferred" to go into the office.

I wanted to return to the pre-COVID culture. Busy office, bumping into different people, creating synergies, blah blah blah.

Sadly, that's gone, and it's never coming back.

I quickly grew tired of coming in to the office, having the big meeting, and less than 50% of the people were in the boardroom. At that point, it's simply more efficient for me to be taking the meeting with Teams.

Funny aside: there's a bar next door to my office building. I've been at my current location for about 3 years now, and I just realized I've been in that bar only twice.

I feel bad for younger people - they won't get to experience office culture. But I guess they don't care - they are more interested in less commuting.

Just to bow this up - I agree with this 100%. Our office was located at 370 King Street in the mid 90s, which was beside My Apartment on Peter Street. My Apartment had $2 mixed drinks or beer, which was a terrific price, even then. You'd go in and buy a round for $20, and everyone else would be getting you back - and by 9pm people are stumbling out pretty, pretty happy.

The networking, socializing and development of a real work team atmosphere between a lot of different groups happened there.

That's basically lost, and it's a shame.

He was dealt by Carolina because he has a really low ceiling, they have a huge logjam of prospects, and he's 23 years old already.

So is it true that Robertson may have changed his mind? I’m curious to see how that plays out. Put him on a line that can compensate for his non physical play and it could work out decently.

So much of success is based on culture. If your attitude within the office is open and positive, that's what the customer is going to see and feel as well.

The endless focus on productivity and efficiency is unintentionally having a negative impact on everything.

The news?

They’re referencing Dreger… I have no idea if it’s valid or not but apparently Berube might have him understanding that the left wing is weak and Toronto is actually where he’ll get a chance

Thanks.

"And along with that, Dreger says there wasn't much of a market around the NHL for Robertson's services.

"I think they're going to get something done. I think that this has been managed properly. Yeah, it's been a slow play. I'm sure that Treliving, because he's involved in every trade-related conversation, has explored what sort of interest there is in Nick Robertson across the league, and frankly, I don't think there is a ton of interest," Dreger said."

No kidding.

If there was any interest whatsoever, somebody would have given him an offer sheet.

Nobody is going to give him an offer sheet because the leafs would just match.

If you're going for an offer sheet you have to overpay the guy to a) make the contract unpalatable to the Leafs and B) make the compensation attractive enough that they're willing to let him go for it.

Nobody would be willing to fork out enough money to a player who is only 0.5PPG that Toronto wouldn’t match. I wouldn’t even be shocked if he was offered something that he simply didn’t sign because his agent knew Toronto would just match it themselves.

Basically I think Robertson has come to realize that if he doesn’t sign with the leafs he won’t be in the NHL this year.

Or as I mentioned he was offered one but he didn’t sign it knowing the leafs would match it.

Heard on Hollywood Babble-On (one of my favourite podcasts) about this actual game. If the leafs have a poopty season I think I may have to buy this game since it would make me feel like the person walking the dog:
