Puljujarvi with his second straight 2 goal game seems to be an early standout

Murashov is human lit up for four goals today.

Thinking back to the comments about Pittsburgh not being desirable, everything I read is the opposite sort of. Comments by glass about how he idolized Crosby and always loved playing at consol against the pens and is super excited to be apart of the team. Grezlyk said basically the same thing. Seems common that players here never wanted to leave when they don’t get resigned or traded, and new players seem pretty stoked to be here. I’m leaning it’s more towards the gm process of just not big name hunting.

Who were the defensemen on his side? Graves and Graves?

I think this year we might have a surprising camp. Even though a lot of the younger talent won't make the team this year (unless injuries occur). I think we have a few players who could make the team the next few years (Broz, Gruden, Avery Hayes, Ponomarev, McGroarty, Pickering, Brunicke, Howe, Murashov, Koivunen, and Blomqvist, Koppanen, Imama (mentioned him for Grinder)).

I think this is the first time in a long time that we had so many prospects in the system who could make a push for a spot. Even if it's the bottom 6. This could potentially save us some good cap space.

Side note I am hearing McGroarty and DOC are showing some incredible chemistry together on line combos. Maybe they both take the 3rd line spots with Eller as the center and give us a potential deep lineup. Lizotte and Glass are looking like a good Defensive shut down pair. Kevin Hayes has also been said to be looking good. Him and Rakell (paired with Malkin) came into camp in great shape and have been doing good.

I think we don't overpay for a lot of players. Which is another reason I think a lot of bigger talent don't come to Pittsburgh. I think pending the season results and potential trades (Jarry being moved) we could be aggressive next offseason. Especially if some of the younger talent save us some cap space.

Per Haase....

The Penguins' lines and pairings at the morning skate. Justin Lee is out there but isn't on the roster tonight, which suggests Philip Waugh is the scratch on D tonight because he's paired with him. And it looks like Atley Calvert is the one out at forward.

Rutger McGroarty - Drew O'Connor - Cody Glass
Jesse Puljujarvi - Tristan Broz - Valtteri Puustinen
Ville Koivunen - Vasily Ponomarev - Emil Bemstrom
Tanner Howe - Jimmy Huntington - Avery Hayes

Ryan Graves - Mac Hollowell
John Ludvig - Harrison Brunicke
Ryan Shea - Nathan Clurman
Justin Lee - Philip Waugher

First time in a long time, I'm looking forward to watching some of our prospects.

All the bubble forwards besides Poulin and Gruden. The defensemen who are probably just outside the bubble. And I think Blomqvist is playing. Good game to watch. 2-3 of the forwards will make the team and several other we will likely see at some point as call ups.

Also so many new faces. Not just the draft picks Howe and Brunicke, but McGroarty, Koivunen, and Ponomarev.

Just glad to have some hockey in a few hours. (And glad the site is finally up to talk about it lol.)

Who besides McGroarty is everyone most eager to see tonight.

For me it's Brunicke. Everyone who watches him seems to come away impressed with his skating.

By all rights Graves, with his experience and cap hit, should be one of the best on the ice tonight....

Pens tend to overpay for not very good (in relation to their peers) players hahaha... Which is still a much smaller cap hit than overpaying for better players....

Right... Most of the forward crew is interesting to me. Other than McG, I'm most interested in Ponomerev. Some of the beat guys have singled him out as looking pretty good. Wish Pickering were playing.

Also want to see Glass, and I'm curious to watch Pulj after almost a full year of recovery.

So far looking like McGroarty needs some time in the A. Might be different if DOC wasn’t anchoring him down.

Sabres lineup has a bit more talent and NHL provens in it than the Pens...which is good for the Pens young unprovens

Lafferty, definitely a Sullivan job shopping him out. Way too much life out there.

I would say, if you want to get noticed now’s the time. But Penguins don’t play real hockey.
