Yzerman has gotta be feeling the heat as it's now his fifth year at the helm. Not addressing the woefully inadequate defense is really coming back to bite this team. The Walman trade may be his his worst decision as GM of Detroit.... along with a couple free agent signings. LaLonde will most likely get the axe this season at some point... I just don't see how he can save his job unless there is a complete turnaround which I don't see happening. This team is better than what we're seeing on the ice right now. It needs a shakeup and some solid defensive structure.
Keep Husso as the backup in GR for the rest of this season... he'll be gone next year. He's not NHL caliber anyway. At least he is winning games in GR with a good team in front of him when needed. Cossa will keep the starter role which is critical. He's been outstanding this season... one of the reasons the Griffins are in 1st place. |

"Fire Yzerman" is trending on social media.....Lalonde will go first to see if a coaching change will salvage the season and Stevie's job.
As for tonight: Walman gets a goal and 2 assists and does an abbreviated Gritty! |

This draft pick Buchelnikov is starting to look really good... people are starting to take notice.

Wings really need to get this 21-year-old Russian kid to GR ASAP. Let's see what he can do in the AHL. Picked 52nd overall in his draft class. Could turn into a real impact player... we'll see. Looks like the potential is there. |

I saw a few articles this morning complaining that the Wings waived Jack Campbell. They insinuated it was retaliation for entering the player assistance program. I generally detest sports writers, and this is an example of why. What were the supposed to do? Should they waive Lyon or Talbot because Campbell is now ready to play? They didn't sign him to play with the big club, they signed him to play in GR so who should the Wings cut in GR to make room for him? Husso? Cossa? |

Decisions like unloading Walman as a liability when the only LD better than him is Edvinsson is a major talent evaluation failure by Yzerman. |

I would love to see Augustine come in next season. Cossa has been awesome and it seems like the shine is off of Husso for Detroit. Campbell is out of player assistance and was waived so curios to see what happens in his career |

This. The plan was, from what I heard shortly after signing, always to send Campbell down to GR. People are desperate for clicks. The blogging and media spheres are all fighting for attention. It’s a disgusting game. Very well put |

Both he and ASP should be over here. GR is an outstanding environment right now (and usually is). The ASP thing has been bothering me since the summer. Not sure why but just isn’t sitting well. |

We should see them in GR this spring along with the Ny-guy. Unless Russia has other plans for their youngsters.........

Yup... agree 100%. There isn't anything ASP is going to learn in the SHL he won't learn in the AHL. He needs to get acclimated to the smaller ice surface and more physical North American style of hockey. It annoyed me when Nygaard also didn't want to come play in GR this season. Wings management went along with it... but they wanted him in GR also this season initially. He is younger than some of the other top prospects... so I'm willing to be a bit more patient with him... to a point. |

They technically don't have to cut anyone. There are no roster limits for AHL teams. There is a development rule that prevents them from dressing too many skaters above a certain number of professional games played, but it doesn't apply to goalies.
Further, players who are not on an entry-level contract can't be assigned to the ECHL without their consent. Cossa is on an ELC so he could be unilaterally reassigned, but that's definitely not happening. Considering Campbell missed all of camp and presumably hasn't been training or practicing with any team, it would make sense to loan him to the ECHL for conditioning and to get some starts in. But he has to agree. |

Soupy clears and is sent to GR. He is a better trade candidate in the AHL, as any team can have him “stored” in the AHL on a $775K fully buried contract. |

I have to think you’re right on Campbell being willing to head to Toledo to get some reps. I think Campbell knew he was “low” on the list and likely headed to the AHL but it does seem like it would be hard for him to get minutes right now |

The Red Wings are better than they have played, but seem to be dropping to lottery status. Again. |

Can someone please tell me how this person Yzerman calls a coach continues to play Gustafson who should not be in the NHL over Johansson Who by the way is probably better than 4 of the six defenceman. Fire Lalonde. Do something Yzerman |
