What can you say, but that N.J. had 3 goals on three shots on the PP. The PK is one of the reasons the Red Wings will miss the playoffs. Again.😢 |

Jake Walman has points in 7 of his last 8 games. He's leading the Sharks in ice-time. He's leading the Sharks with a +5 rating.
Shane Gostisbehere leads Carolina d-men with 17 points in 20 games. He's playing top 4 minutes and running their PP ranked 7th in the NHL.
Lucky that we have a group of pro scouts, led by Kirk Maltby and a handful of other former players who work with our GM. Together, they decided to:
-send Walman packing with a 2nd round pick
-let Gostisbehere walk when he seemed to indicate a desire to stay
-we used the cap savings on Gustafsson who can't even make our opening line-up most nights. He's coming back next year at $2M.
-Gustafsson is having trouble beating out Holl, Chiarot, and Petry who make a combined $10.5M and all were given some form of NTC
The incompetence from this organization is unreal. We could very realistically have the following d-men:
Walman-Seider
Edvinsson-
Ghost-
That's the making of a competent group. What we have now is complete garbage.

Doesn't the Wings video replay team have some input into the challenges that the coach decides to make? - Hockeyfan39
They send the angles to the floor monitor. Of all the angles made available to the viewer none of them justified that challenge |

Please just stop. You ignore everything they did to make this worse. I’m fine with incremental progress but at the quarter point that PK is unacceptable. |

They screwed up. The constant defense is that Kane said Gus was amazing on the pp. no offense but those Chicago teams made a lot of players look really good. My biggest issue is, why weren’t the Seider and Raymond deals done sooner? At least one or two people think waiting on those deals screwed us in Gost. The Walman theories, good luck. I’m digging through that turd of a deal for the peanut. We have options to upgrade and I think it’s time to do something. Even if you’re not playoff bound, don’t let this be the culture. Mike is gone, but deserves better than this mess. No wonder they chant for Jared Goff at the games |

Yes Yzerman is rebuilding still and he tried to sign Stamkos last summer to add to an already full of vets lineup. Wings are the 5th oldest team by average in the NHL but they are rebuilding still.
You're fooling yourself if you think Yzerman is still in a rebuild. He's trying to make the playoffs not get a high pick...the high pick might just happen (not because they are trying) because of incompetence of their pro scouts, their amateur scouts (with Draper leading them) and the GM constantly signing the wrong players.
Yzerman won't come out and say he was aiming to make the playoffs publicly because that would put his job on the line if he fails like he is doing now. |

Exactly. Why was he even talking to Stamkos? Before a guy like Fabbro goes on waivers, why isn't he offering a pick instead? Same with a guy like Liljegren. Instead of Holl/Petry/Chiarot/Gus you bring in younger assets like Fabbro and Liljegren and see if you have something. Caps acquired Logan Thompson for two 3rds? Maybe Maltby, Draper, and the other scouts were playing golf that day.

You have no idea if Y tried for those players or others. Stick to facts not your make believe BS.

First, I hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving surrounded by Family & friends.
Second........🤢🤮
This is an embarrassment of a team. No continuity in play, defense is as shables, and what was once a more than sure thing becomes a joke - Coach's Challenge.
This team is a wreck. A bunch of guys playing the game the way they think it should ve played vs a cohesive fighting force well-drilled in execution of plays, systemic in their approach to each shift. There's not enough lipstick.
There was no desire in my eyes for making the SCPO; I thought it a fool's wish. What I wanted to see was improvement. What I see gives me retina burn. I don't give 2 sacks of horse crap about "rebuild"; blow out it out your nose. This goes beyond rebuild straight to the core of the problem: Crap for D and no comprehensive team plan. One, the coach can't control, one he can. He's not. Oh, and for anyone who hangs their hat on this "rebuild" BS - a rebuild shows improvement....
Even if we get a draft in the top 10, exactly how long would it take for him to make the NHL? 3-5 years, heaven help us if it's a D-dude because there ain't too many Mo & Eddy-types out there...and we damn sure ain't pullin' a #1 pick. YES, arebuild takes time, believe me I know what it takes to gut & rebuild a team....I've done it with 4 Army company commands - 1 was 2 months before we went into combat. Leaders LEAD. They learn their team's strengths & weaknesses then formulate plans accordingly. Lalonde's a crap coach. He couldn't pour pee out of a boot with instructions on the heel. I HOPED Tanguay would breathe fresh life into the offense & PP - wasted that hope. Boogy man? Teach this defense some balls, get this team out of their slumber with a comprehensive scheme. It's. Not. Happening.
We, as true fans, want to see our team improve. We don't extoll the virtues of a "rebuild"; we hold leadership reponsible for failure....and there's a metric crap-ton of failure to go around.
Sack. Them. All. STOP waiting, don't hold on because it's only been done once in-season. I love Yzerman, he took the team AND the city out of dispair and brought respectabilty back to Hockey Town. But I am WHOLLY against not sgip-canning Lalonde.
I am SO done. This team has damn good players. But they languish in an environment of chaos. Kasper's going to be a dirty, nasty, game-changer. Eddy's just...wow. mo. Rayzor. Hell, even Berggren's showing he can play (he's not gonna hit 30 or 40 G, but his skating is markedly improved and his release is much vetter....). This isn't taking Mazur, Danielson, Cossa, etc growing in the "A". We. Have. A Good. Set. Of. Guys. Get a damn system and get it done fast. This team can win, despite itself if it has a good scheme.
Tick-Tock, Newsy. Tick. Tock. |

Make believe BS? Sigh.
What I said was...before an organization like Nashville puts Fabbro on waivers, a smart GM would have already been in their ear. "Hey, we know how much depth you have on D. Instead of losing Fabbro on waivers, give me a call and we can at least send something in return. We have plenty of 5-6-7 round picks that we'd be willing to part with".
That's what I suggested should have happened.
You come along and say...well how do you know Yzerman didn't try that?
Sigh. You're right. Maybe he did. And Nashville said, "Hey thanks for your offer but we're even stupider than you guys and we're just going to waive him for nothing in return". Yeah, I'll stick to the facts. Here's one. Fabbro makes $2.5M and Yzerman didn't want to add even more to our bloated cap. Obviously the solution is you just waive Holl to make room for Fabbro. But that's kind of like admitting a mistake...
Fabbro has fit like a glove playing with Werenski. Could have been playing with Edvinsson:
Walman-Seider
Edvinsson-Fabbro
Fun fact...in the 2016 draft Wings had the 16th overall pick. We traded down to 20 and picked Denis Cholowski. Chychrun of course went 16th. Nashville takes Fabbro at 17. Wings get Cholowski and Draper says he was the guy they wanted all along. Cholowski was playing in the BCHL, a step below the W. Guess who else played in the BCHL that year - Fabbro. So all that scouting of Cholowski would have meant seeing Fabbro over and over. The organization should have been extremely familiar with this player.
Any more facts? |

Maybe you should be the GM, oh but you can't even get writing gig with HockeyBuzz because of your toxicity.
Too bad.👎 |

We seen improvement last year and then whatever genius decided to get rid of Ghost, Walman and Matta and replace them with Holl , petry and a guy that should not even be in the nhl giveaway Gustafson. Anyone that even watches a bit of hockey knows that this is a bad deal for Detroit. Whoever was the mastermind behind these decisions needs to be removed immediately and Lalonde is the worst coach in hockey. Everyone sees it but Yzerman. So sad. |
|
|
|
Another opinion, Johansson has been head and shoulders a better option than giveaways Gustafson but I would bet on draft kings that our dumbass coach will have giveaways back in lineup tomorrow. Everyone knows he is terrible but yet our coach somehow doesn’t see it. Giveaways is a fiasco every time he is on the ice |

THIS ^^^ We aren't making the SCPO, give the kid a shot - send Gus to the "A" so he can fix whatever the issue is (convince me Watson is unable to help the big club that way...) and give the fans some hope. I know, I know; bring the kids along slowly and let them mature. But if he gets more ice time.......BUT, does it make sense with a defensive scheme that's in shambles, he learns horrible traits which take years to undo.....I'm impressed w/Johansson. He's going to be a valuable asset as long as he gets solid coaching....
|
|
|
|
Our D stinks....big shock, right? Jiricek was just dumped....decent return for him, but the point is we MAY have been able to swing something. I mean, something needs to give. I'm just frustrated, like all of you are.....This team has a pretty solid core group of kids, not gonna make the SCPO for a few years (competitively), so dump a vet for a kid & see what happens. |

Yeah my life goal is to get a writing gig on this site. SO devastated that I haven't been hired. To then write stuff for people like you who get triggered and label everything you don't agree with as toxic. No thanks. It's readers like you who make me NOT want to write. Idiot.
So tell us again...is your theory that Yzerman did actually talk about making an offer for Fabbro but Nashville just decided to give him away on waivers instead? Solid idea pal. |
