Thanks Sean.
I agree Weegar should make the team before Bouchard.

Literally everyone on your list is ahead of Bouchard. He was, is, and will continue to be one of the most overrated (maybe not anymore) defensemen in the league.
Sorry Sean, he is indeed a promising young player, but you suggested earlier that he could challenge for the Norris, when he's not even top 10, and now you've used him in a sentence with Makar...MAKAR!!! Really?

This is actually the definition of a Homer.

Evan Bouchard will never be a top paring dman on a quality team. He doesn't have the hockey sense, the skating ability, or the instinctive decision making ability to be a 1 or 2.

I don't mind keeping him around on the second pairing, earning under $4m, but God I hope EDM doesn't overpay him. My 51yr old broken body could get 50 2nd assists dishing to McDavid on the PP.

The Bouchard love affair needs to end...now.

Maybe it just did.

While Bouchard has the better big shot, Makar is obviously a superior player and will be the #1 powerplay defender.

The sentence I used Bouchard's name in with Makar.

Yes, we all read that...but there is a subtle implication that Bouchard is close, or even an acceptable substitute...he's not close at all.

Anyway, he's on our team and we've got to use his positives and try to improve the negatives. The good news is that his agent doesn't have much material to work with when negotiating his contract.

The hatred is strong with this one.

Bouchard WILL be overpaid, regardless of whether it is back in Edmonton, or any other team. There isn't a single GM in the league that wouldn't give him way more than your 4 mil cap. He is 12TH in defensive scoring with 20 points, even after the teams slow start. Despite your narrative that his points are all secondary pp assists, he only has 5 assists on the PP, leaving 15 points (inc. 6 goals) at evens. He ain't no Makar or Hughes, but I'd be willing to bet his name shows up on one or two Norris nomination forms at year end.

That said, if he is going to be asking for around 10, they need to move him. Can't be dropping 20 mil into Nurse/Bouch, not with our salaries up front.
