I just read this from Satiar Shah, they won’t shoot, is their biggest issue. And they don’t hit the net when they do, is another.

They have no cycle. They are straight into the boards and hope for the best. Too many dump ins with a weak forecheck. They don't seem to like to carry the puck over the blue line these days. Not a good recipe for creating offensive chances.

That drop pass on the PP entry can also fuck off any time now.

Been watching Columbus and Anaheim as much as possible, 2 young teams that are improving and fun to watch.

CBJ called up Mateychuk and Luca Belluz and they’re both doing well, Canadian boys. Belluz had 1-1-2 his first game.

Similarly, this has been a brutal season for Carson Soucy. He was so good last year, leading the way on the second pair.

But he’s been crushed in so many aspects this season. He looks slow. He’s got the worst on-ice shot-attempts share on the team. In 40 games last year, he gave up 555 shot-attempts against. In 41 games this year, he’s been on the ice for 690 against.

Good blog brother. Many patterns are occurring on a regular basis. The inability to do anything under pressure stands out. Small details eroded & too slow on decisions. Speed of the game & they look for pretty plays doesn’t cut it. Basic hockey & execution has gotten to be very poor. The forecheck is late & puck battles in all zones suck & poor break outs all adds up.

It’s not even that not playing up to any level of consistency. 60 minute hockey just isn’t there.

Starting the season crapping the bed at home & great road warriors was a sign. At home hasn’t changed & on the road is now the same results. Injuries have really hurt to find any traction. The regression is painful with only Hughes out there able to do anything.

That all said a major shake up looms.
