"As one of the premier two-way centers in the NHL, Sean has the rare talent to shut down opposing teams' top players while also contributing at a high offensive level," general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a news release. "He carries an enormous presence inside our dressing room due to his preparation, determination and drive to win."

Fletcher needs to be shot out of a rocket as one of the first people sent to Mars. What a fool!!!

We are really, the whole coaching staff, really pushing him not to worry about mistakes or tunovers. We’ll go through the coaching of that through more games. We need to see his offense. We’re not a great offensive team, and we want him to explore himself and not be afraid to make a mistake.

....

That’s what I like about him. He’s got some jam to him. He has opinions and I’d rather have a player that way instead of trying to suck it out of him. It’s going to be fun to coach him and he really does some special things. Really looking forward to it as we progress here.

That Michkov is long gone and he has had it sucked out of him by this coaching staff.

If they are not playing him as much due to physical fatigue I can understand that. If they are playing him less than 10 minutes a game because he is not producing, that makes zero sense to me.

It is irrelevant -- they are a poorly constructed team with a coach who admittedly knows little about offense and nothing about goaltending that will year in and year out flirt with the playoffs due to the insane 3-point games and continues to draft in the mid-teens. Wash, rinse repeat for all of eternity

Him being vital to the team shows how far away they really are at this time.

Question is do you move him to the wing? Would you get more bang for your buck?

You mentioned the other day that GH trade value keeps going up. What would it take for the Flyers to move him?

I believe Torts when he says he tells MM to just play but the system Torts plays is not one for the O gifted folks, there lies the rub, MM has to play similar or be subject to the opinions of his teammates, you are who you hang out with, they need to get him the appropriate people to hang with, players and coaches.

One season no big deal, I think this off-season MM will put the work in and come back quicker and stronger, they need to set him up to succeed next season.

Wouldn't the Flyers trade deadline strategy simply be to auction off any pending UFA?

Oh wait, they have none. Solid roster construction there.

I'm more intrigued by the Penguins being linked to Miller, Pettersson, Marner, Nelson...

Pens don't have a lot to offer in return for those players. I am not ok with the Flyers doing nothing at this TDL.

Looking at the numbers from last night's game, the Flyers got out possessed, out chanced and out played for the most of the 2nd and 3rd periods. There were spurts of dominant play by the Flyers in this game, but I do believe Ersson bailed them out.

There is a rumour out there that the Penguins have been dangling Crosby. I have a hard time seeing Crosby not finish his career with the Penguins, but I said the same thing about Bourque with the Bruins many years ago. Crosby is still playing great hockey for his age and I think there would be a lot of interest from contending teams. It would be the right move for the Penguins and for Crosby IMO.

Hindsight is 20/20. At the time I was in favor of the extension because I looked at Couts as a similar play to Patrice Bergeron who could play good hockey and provide excellent leadership well into his 30s. The back injuries have messed up Couts, there is no doubt about it. Who knew at the time?

Undoubtedly a Flyer for life. Will be easily indoctrinated into the Flyers culture to perpetuate the next generation of Flyer's mediocrity.

The same Couturier that was a factor in the 2012 playoffs against the Penguins is a bulwark for the 2025 "rebuilding" Flyers.

I honestly don't think Laughts has that much value. I contending team might give up a late 2nd round pick for him, but is that really going to move the needle on this rebuild? I think with Cates emergence and Cout's decline, the Flyers should probably move on from Poehling if there is interest. So I guess my answer is yes unfortunately.

It was a bad move to extend at that time as the Flyers were and still are going nowhere. Flyers just refuse to sell high on players.

Last night's game is a perfect example. Did he barely play in the 3rd period because he was fatigued or because the Flyers had a lead in the game?

Playoff teams aren't going to covet Laughton like they will Ristolainen?
