Signing a 30 something center to a big dollar, multi year deal would be an asinine move for a team that is light years from being a Cup contender.

So yeah, it’s exactly what I expect the Flyers to do.

With how in demand centers are they are probably not going to be able to trade for one. The correct course would be live with whatever Cates, Couturier and Luchanko bring next year and hope for win the McKenna sweepstakes.

Nelson, no.

Giroux, no. Plus I don't think he would want to come back. Ill also add that I don't agree Giroux has had a "rebirth" this season. He has gone from .96ppg his first OTT season, to .78ppg last season, to .65ppg this season. He is slowing down.

Bennett, hell no.

Bennett has never scored 30 goals or reached 50 points in a season. Granted, he may reach 50 this season. He is NOT a UFA you throw big money or 7 years at. He will be 29 when the next season starts. He will be, MARK MY WORDS, Kevin Hayes v2, only worse, because Bennett will be making a few million more than Hayes, and for what, 7 years?

Adding yet another long term, badly aging contract to Couturier and Konecny is the opposite of what this team should do.

Is Claude still considered a center?

BTW...this post was pretty well written! Good topic and no glaring typos! Thanks Ek!

Are you just spitballing here Ek or do you have some insider info that the Flyers are interested?

All 3 would be a complete disaster and a fireable offense.

I don't see the Flyers going for any of these centers. Briere has statd he would be reluctant to sign a free agent player over 30 years old give where the Flyers are with the rebuild. My guess if Briere will get the centers at the draft.

Plus I don't see any of them WANTING to come here unless it is a vast overpay (like Kevin Hayes stated when he signed)

Can howie Roseman run the flyers too? Even if he can throw 8 hours a week at this I’ll take it over the current regime

He’s getting no one. Name me the centers that could be available and why?

Fans are going to be shocked that very little is going to happen this offseason. It won’t be for lack of trying but the Flyers have nothing to sell. Just about every recent center trade has involved a center going back. Do you think Cates or Luchanko are being traded?

Flyers are slow learners. As we can see the FA options are bare bones and no one is trading out of a top 5 pick.

Their strategy is to get lucky later in the draft, which isn’t a strategy at all.

Spitballing might be generous.

Islanders got Richie Callum back from Colorado on their deal. No way Colorado isn't resigning him.

Why would Bennet want to leave Florida to come lose here ?

Giroux is finally playing for a team that is winning. Why would he leave to come back to a situation 5x worse than when he left ?

Well said… exactly what is see (or not see) what’s going to happen.

I think the center is Jett and it will not be best for his development.

This way they would be able to age gracefully with Couturier and TK

Bennett is the only one that makes sense. He's behind Barkov and Reinhart in Florida and playing a #1 position might be something that could get him going. Nelson and G are too old. I'd love to have them here, but I feel like G is going to want to go to a real contender, he needs a cup and I don't think we're going to be there anytime soon.

Maybe Bennett is a #1, maybe he's not. But he's a good player at center and with some good wingers (which we do have) and the right ice time he could be very effective for us.

What would you offer the guy who has never had 50 points in a season to get him to come here?

A chance to play the right way, block shots and Nick Deslauriers will be his body guard and butler.
