Good box score game for McG. Hopefully that gets some confidence pumping. That goal he had should be his money maker in the NHL.

If he can use his weight a bit more, I can see a Bunting style net front with a better shot/playmaking

Is Bunting even known for throwing his weight around, I feel like Bunting is more of a nose to the net and pick up trash guy, which McG's game is that already. Bunting had some success on the PP as a net front, but I don't think that's his primary game.

He’s just sand-papery (only the hockey world will know what I mean what I say that).

Yeah he's got a nose for the net/dirty areas, but I feel like that's McG's game already if you were to compare his Michigan highlights vs. some of Bunting's NHL highlights -- they play a similar game

Im hoping McGroarty can become a more skilled version of Kunitz.

Its a small sample size, but just from seeing clips of him recently, it looks like he's taken some of his struggles from his brief stint earlier in the season and improved them. Thats what you want to see from a young guy who struggled when he first came to the NHL.

Kunitz was legitimately a borderline star. More skilled Kunitz is a max player.

He’s not going to be as skilled as Kunitz. Kunitz was a rough country kid from Saskatchewan. Mcgroarty is a silver spoon college kid. The two players and people are nothing a like.

McG's dad is also Canadian, and a former pro player and coach from Mississauga, Ontario.

Why stop at Kunitz? I hope he can become a more skilled version of Crosby. Of course I don't believe he will be better than either but one can dream.

There are dreams and there is heroin lol. I'm hoping for a more skilled version of Hornqvist. Another Kuni would be awesome too.

This blog reminded me, Dubas gave an interview earlier this week saying the two positions he needed to bolster this offseason are LD (duh) and C.

Now after getting Novak, we'd seem to be set at C with Sid, Malkin, Novak, and Lizotte. So I wonder if a move to wing for Malkin his final year is being considered. I'd be for it.

McGroarty is going to go to the net. Just watch any highlight tape of his.

The thing I really like besides that is both his points came off him making defensive plays first to get the puck back. It's a simple concept, but Pens haven't had a lot of forwards who do that the past couple years.

Russian machine never breaks.

Even more respect for the dude since he said he doesn't want to break it with an empty netter.

I was hoping Ovi would break the record in that Pens game at the end of the season, because it'd be cool for Sid and Geno to be there to congratulate him ... but looks like he's decided he's just going to get it done sooner.

Any chance someone here has voodoo magic to make Ovi go cold for 5 games? Or just give him the flu or something.

It'd be nice for him to potentially score the record breaking goal against us... not because I would be there, but because the resell on my tickets would be f'ing awesome
