Big fan of Kleven, thought he had a very strong playoffs.
Interesting to see where he slots in with Sanderson and Chabot ahead of him on the left side. I think he has second pairing potential. It's possible they use the third pairing more frequently than in the past to give him more ice time.
Can he play on the right side at all, that could allow him to get into the top four.

Agree 100%. He was easily one of the top 3 players in my books in the Toronto series. Really showed confidence and poise.
I think with Jensen out, Sens should sign a right shot D-man that can do the job. I like Nick Perbix. Playoff experience with TBL and always good numbers. Also mid-west like Kleven. I really want to see Chabot moved for Sanheim. His stock has risen a lot but I don't like him at $8M cap hit and we can sweeten the deal for PHI with future picks.
Sign Nick Perbix 3 years @2.75M
Sign Tyler Kleven 4 years @2.5M
Jake Sanderson - Artem Zub
Travis Sanheim - Nick Perbix*
Tyler Kleven - Nikolas Mantinpalo

First off , Sanheim has a NTC (no trade without player consent). Secondly, now that Tortorella has been fired, why would Philly trade a Team Canada d-man. Sanheim and Tortorella did not mix well. Why would Philly want Chabot when they are rebuilding their team. Chabot and Sanheim are both the same age. As for "future picks" to sweeten the deal ..... what future picks. Ottawa needs to keep picks to begin rebuilding their minor leagues.

Fair opinion. I'm good with Chabot returning. Sanheim is actually a full year old and has more term. Also Chabot I think can have a monster year next year.
I met him before the playoffs (he was solid in round 1) and told him what a F***ing amazing job the boys were doing. I told him defensively himself and everyone has been way better.
Honestly, if Chabby was making 2M less, I wouldn't move him! |

I'm okay with a defense as it is. They played really well down the stretch. Kleven especially..
. People have seem to have forgotten that last year was his first full year up with the big Club .
You can sign some depth guys....Gilbert on a one-year League minimum and/some veteran...but any cap space or draft Capital has to address the first line Winger issues. That's where I want them spending the money and that's where I want their attention to be at this off-season.
I'm also okay with the Sens making any heavy moves this year. Because the next year's UFA and RFA class is quite phenomenal. And the cap goes up. |

speaking of rebuilding the prospect pool, SS made a trade worst than any trade dorion did in his tenure as GM, the chych trade to WSH. he traded a top 4 Dman, in his prime for essentially 2 years of a aged jensen and a 3rd...at least Dorion got what at the time was a very good prospect and a 2nd for Stone. what total and complete asset mismanagement by SS to is hurting the team now. |

Klevan had a real good playoff. I’ll be interested to see his growth. I would not get too carried away. Unless his offense improves, he’s a 4/5 d-man, shutdown guy. Give him a nice bridge deal, I say.
While it would be nice to get a more experienced right-hand D to pair with Klevan or Chabot, I am pretty ok with Mantinpalo. Dirt cheap cap hit and didn’t look out of place at the 4-nations and the playoffs. Any experienced d-man is going to cost around $4 mill per and they won’t give you that much more than what Mantinpalo gives you.

This simply shows you do not understand the situation on multiple levels.
Finding top 4 RD in a trade is next to impossible.
Jensen was a huge part in Chabot's game this year and for the Sens defensive game in general. The fit was perfect.
JC does not fit the roster / style of play the Sens went with this year. They did not need a top 4 offensive / suspect defensive play defender. I suspect JC was on Martin's "move on from" list.
JC was needing a huge contract. |

With the Cap going up the next few seasons, his salary is reasonable.

The injury to Jensen is concerning. Obviously Staios has more information but it would not surprise me to see some depth additions to bolster the blue line and cover for potential injuries. |

I thought Sens should have kept Chych to replace Chabot (for same money as Chabot... What he's making in Washington is ridiculous), but because of Jensen, Chabot was good. Jensen was huge for Chabot's stability. His "gaffs" were significantly reduced.
Now I'm glad Chabot was the one the Sens kept. I am excited to see how the D will be with no Harmonic all year. |

you are a moron, its not they traded Chych, is that he got traded for essentially nothing, omg 2 years of jensen is going to poop for OTT and chabot because guess what, they are back in the same dam boat as their were before they got jensen just without any assets. Jensen was worth at best a 2nd round pick, OTT could have gotten a 1st+++ for chych, he still had 1 year on his deal. asset mismanagement at its finest.
now OTT has no prospect pool to speak of and no future, OTT cup window never opened because they dont have the team to even come close to hoping to compete for a cup and they dont have the assets to get good players in trades to fill the holes. dorion and SS (frank)ed up this team by trading for Cat, chych then trading away chych (for nothing). not many teams will bail them out like BUF did with Norris/Cozens. OTT only hope (LOL) is to get good UFAs at reasonable cap hits (pigs will fly before that).

ya and when jensen leaves next year because he is too old and chabot sucks again OTT will have nothing to show for it from the trade of a top 4 Dman in his prime (chych).

Given the drivel you populate these forums with, along with the extremely poor punctuation / grammar / vocabulary you put on display for all to consume, it amazes me that you think you own any semblance of intelligence.
You are the definition of imbecile. Not only that, but your content is truly pathetic. I feel sorry for your family and friends. I could not imagine having to deal with you on a daily basis. At this point, the only thing left to offer my sincere condolences to your family, friends, coworkers and anyone else that has to cross paths with you. |

Jakob Chychrun has now signed at $9M. He plays behind Sandin on the second pair. I certainly thought the same way you did but I think Chabot's trade value has gone up a lot.
I am still very open to trading Chabot - for a D-man like Sanheim. I was proposing for Fowler last year and look how well he's played for STL |

Just start reporting any post where he attacks someone else in here or is extremely negative (which is most posts). A block button would be spectacular, imagine never having to gloss over anything they write in the comments. |

The other option is collectively ignore this donkey and he’ll eventually fade away. I realize that’s hard the way he baits with ridiculous comments and negativity, but if everyone commits, he’ll find another bridge. |

Klevan had a great playoff and the timing is scary. He’s going to get paid better, but hopefully lives up to it.
Defense is average without injuries, but one guy goes down and it’s a house of cards. Hopefully some right side depth is picked up on the offseason. |

Personally, I don't think keeping Chychrun was even an option. I don't think his personality meshed well with the team, and I don't think he even wanted to stay here. At a +/- of -31, Chychrun was not good here.
Jensen was a good fit. His age helped add some veteran presence. Jensen was a +18 which I believe led the team and is IMO one of the prime reasons for the defensive turnaround on this team.
As for Klevin , I think he gets a bridge deal of maybe 3 years at $1.5 million to 2 million (maybe even $3 million per season). These numbers are not outrageous by todays standards. With the cap going up over the next few years, we are all going to have to recalibrate our salary numbers. |
