Sam Bennett is not going anywhere. The Panthers will resign him to a new contract, as he is an invaluable 2nd-line center. |

I mean with the cap going up he may want to explore more money but I would think a contract extension would be already in place and just waiting for the cup to be over to be announced.
Big names I see moving are
Mitch Marner, Marco Rossi, Rielly Smith, Dan Vladar and Jack Roslovic.
I think a lot will resign now that there is more room. |

I see Aaron Ekblad and Marchand going to free agency also. |

Sam is from the GTA so here is 8.25 million to come home and play 41 games infront of your family. Florida doesn’t want to pay you more then 7 million so 8.25 million evens out the tax difference! |

$7M is closer to what he will get for half the season. |

Price of hockey players is going up up up. He is a playoff guy. I’d say 7x8 if he signs away from Florida (which I doubt) if he stays I think they go 8 x 7.5 . |

Sam is from GTA. You try and get him between $8-9mil and a fist full of endorsement contracts to make even more, to come home. Makes a lot of sense. |

$7 or $8 million per is perhaps a little on the high end for a career 50 point player, but with the cap rising so quickly it won't look that crazy in two years. |

I don't see any reason why he would leave Florida. Without income tax, his contract is worth 2x what any other team can offer. Not to mention the success and lifestyle. Florida signs him to 7m x 7y |

Let's see, Sam can stay in Florida with beautiful weather, palm trees, and beaches, and live peacefully in anonymity away from media hassles and pressure; play on a proven Stanley Cup winning team in a clear, defined role where he has demonstrated success with long-term line mates who rank amongst his best friends. And he can collect a fat paycheck while having long-term security.
Or, he can trade it all away for the bright lights of Toronto and a few more shiny dollars just so he can play for a GM who already oversaw his misuse and traded him away. And, being the guy with the big, new, fat contract, he will be expected to carry the entire GTA on his back as the new savior for the Maple Leafs where he's automatically set up to take the blame if they don't win the Stanley Cup. If that doesn't sound attractive enough, don't forget that every day for the next seven years, he'll be asked multiple times if he's living up to his contract? Oh, and he'll have to spend time and energy sheltering his family from the inevitable criticism and rumors.
Go Panthers!

Panthers can afford one of the three of Bennett, Ekblad or Marchand |
|

I think the Leafs will pass on Bennett and look to add Marchand and Ekblad. . And then move off of Reilly. |

If Toronto signs Bennett, you can kiss Tavares goodbye, unless he wants to take the 3C position and 3C money.
For the cost of Tavares and Marner this offseason, you probably could get Bennett and Marchand. If you are Toronto... |

Habs can offer around 15-16 M/year to add Ehlers and Bennet. Then use Laines salary to resign Hutson for next year. |
