If the wings are looking to bolster their defense, why would they be interested in Karlsson?

Would Karlksson consider waiving his NMC for a team perpetually outside the playoffs?

I don't see it. Compher has a longer contract that's not worth that money. I'd rather see a very good set of picks for Pittsburgh eating half of EK's salary.

There's a new sheriff in town so maybe that coach will focus on getting EK what he needs to be successful, and if we don't make the playoffs, trade him then and keep half the salary. That way the other team gets their playoff defender *and* loses someone else off their roster the following year so EK's salary isn't a problem.

This has been rumored all summer. Berggren has been mentioned as well as a cap dump like Compher or Holl.

But dating back to the trade deadline...sources like Friedman have mentioned Karlsson to Dallas, Ottawa, Toronto, Carolina. If Pietrangelo's career is finished I could see Vegas adding Karlsson at 50%. Pietrangelo's contract goes the other way. Alongside picks and a warm body to make the cap work.

No one is giving Pens any picks for EK even if they retain 50%. He is a defensive nightmare

Wouldn't surprise me if Pittsburgh hangs on to him until the trade deadline. This will be the last year teams can use the no-cap playoff/LTIR loophole. Somebody will undoubtedly use it (we're looking at you Florida teams).

I would like EK65 to be traded with retention versus getting a long bad contract back. But i dont know where he really wants to go that could fit $5-7M+ in cap space.
