It’s tough rooting for this team to win, yet have a chance at Bedard. Maybe hockey karma will send a miracle first pick, for not tanking, and giving great effort in meaningless games.

For trying?
…kinda?
Or at least a few young players have. I’m glad we saw a few sparks on a team that is missing a lot of talent overall.

Chicago is missing talent because they shipped the majority of it out, and the rest are at the end of their run. I can’t whack the nose of our kids who pulled out a few wins for giving it their all. They’re playing for their pride and their future.

And it’s not like shipping guys out like JvR was going to help the tank. He should’ve gone, but nobody had much interest. Honestly, what was he going to fetch you? A pick maybe, but it wouldn’t have effected our points total.

Meh. We are what we are. I’d love a top 3 pick this year, but that was derailed when our youth movement put together some solid efforts. I can’t be mad at that. I want the lottery picks, but I want to see our younger guys play hard, too.

Hockey karma would be for Chicago to turn into the Buffalo Sabres and miss the playoffs for 12 straight years despite years and years of top end picks.

Doing things the right way? They enabled a syx predator and then and only then they decided to migrate into oblivion in an effort to remove themselves from the limelight for a few years.

Their hope is that everyone forgets they even have a franchise for a few yrs so they can put that scandal in the rearview mirror.

Has nothing to do w some kind of master plan rebuild.

Best post here in a while. Well done and ty for speaking the truth. How do you instruct good young players and the flyers now have a few of them to not give it their all? Someone needs to answer that before they criticize the flyers for not giving a better tank effort.

Great to see Frost play with Tippettesque passion the last couple of games and especially last night.

He was an absolute beast last night. I would say his best game as a flyer. Even better than the games against the yotes. He kinda played like a young g out there.

I guess one of the keys to "success" is Hart to get peppered with 40+ shots? Is he now 11-1 when seeing that high amount?

He should've gotten an assist on Sanheim's first goal, puck went off his face to Lemieux to Sanheim.

In fairness, Florida averages something like 36+ shots per game.

I agree, Frost had a good game last night. The biggest difference I see between a player like Frost and a player like Tippet this season is that Tippet has developed into a player that makes something happen pretty much every shift. He gets people off their seat when he has the puck and I have to be honest, its exciting to watch. With Frost its more hit or miss. There are shifts where he makes dazzling plays and then ther are shifts and even periods where I wonder if he even played. Now its been better with Frost because it used to be entire games where I would wonder if Frost was playing, so there has been an improvement throughout the year. Frost is never going to be a defensive player nor a player that will win a majority of puck battles in the corners, so a key for him is to keep his legs moving, use his speed and drive offense. I would also like to see Frost shoot more because I think he has a sneaky quick shot with good accuracy. For Tippet, happy to see him driving the net more but I still feel he needs to improve his shot accuracy.

Also in fairness the backup goaltender who played last night gives up 4+ goals a game on .881 sv% so it pretty much went as expected.

FLA put up 40+ shots and gave up 4+ goals, as expected. The Flyers still needed Hart to have a great game to win against a team that was looking past them.

Once again not bad enough to take a "generational talent" in the draft and not good enough to well, do anything relevant during the season. Rinse and repeat next year.

It think if Frost continues to push his game he can be a 50-60 point player if he gets to play with other skilled players.
I’m not suggesting he will perennially reach that but it’s not unthinkable he could get there.
Tippet can be a 30 goal scorer as well if he continues to improve.

Honestly, when you look at Frost’s overall trajectory there have been some extenuating circumstances that on the surface seem more like excuses. His Shoulder injury cost him almost a full year, the world pandemic bit into what would have been been another fairly important full year of development.
So what is he? Hard to say of what his full potential could be just based on his lack of time on the ice. But what can’t be argued is his skill level and vision. I watched him in junior and saw a kid that didn’t have to play defence because he always had the puck. I heard some scouts had an issue with his skating which after watching a ton of his games I new was a (frank)ing joke.
Truth is Frost looked every bit as good as Mitch Marner, every bit as good as Nick Suzuki in his D+1 year in the OHL. Frost needed to grow from his boy like body into a man and although slight, is getting close.
Both him and Tippet have really been given a fantastic chance this year to get the opportunity to take their games to an NHL level. One that’s reflective of what they were in junior’s. Both have taken some big steps. I still think skies the limits for both. They have a hard ass coach that has focused on pushing their ass to a new level. In a season that’s been one of transition, that’s a positive from my perspective.

Only got to watch the second half of the second period. As long as it's the young kids leading them to victory I am ok with that. That group needs to be the future of the team.

Get rid of the big contracts and older players. Go young.

I really do not think they will finish better than 7th worst. That is kind of where a lot of us thought they would end up. It is what it is at this point.

The pass on the Provy goal was pretty sweet.
