Great road win for the jets to start the playoffs. Looks like that time off from the last meaningful game really helped them out.

They should even get another gear once ehlers returns.

A tremendously complete 60-minute game by the Jets last night. Definitely one of their best of the season. Gap control last night was phenomenal. The Jets also got better and better as the game progressed.

It's nice to see Helle get a light workload to start off the series. That can pay dividends as we move forward. Conversely, Brossiot was in a series of pileups, net crashes, etc. Keep this up and you might see Quick at some point. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Hats off to Morgan Barron. Tough kid with a bright future on this team.

Great start to the series. Superb effort by each and every Jet. Keep it going boys....the Whiteout awaits !

I'm not losing sleep on Ehlers. The fact remains that the Jets' record this year without Ehlers in the lineup is way way better than when he is in the lineup. Let him heal properly and don't rush him back.

Let’s see… I still think he’ll provide a boost for the PP

It was great to see the Jets play the way they way they are capable of doing.
If Helly keeps playing the way he did in this game he will allow the Jets to win low scoring games.

for all my ehler bashing done on hockeybuzz mostly because of aimless perimeter play and lack of playoff success I picked him in my hockey pool (and namestnikov). Jets were obviously in high demand. I am hoping for a quick return and for him to make me eat some crow.

I was shocked at how the Jets dominated the physical play, let by the 4th line. Who does Ehlers replace when he is back? (Gustafson I guess, Barron to 4th, #62 or 26 to third - but it was good that Gus got at least a game in to get his feet wet.) regardless of who he replaces we will lose some of the edge in physical play - but who cares about that if Ehlers is skating like he can.

“Vegas removed the pedals from the exercise bikes in Jets dressing room, some around the league this this is extremely bush league”

Hopefully, the fans in Winnipeg don't forget to pull the fire alarms at the Fairmont Hotel once an hour btw 1 Am and 5 AM , or drive around the hotel honking their horns all night.

You’d think the league would be less than impressed by this, in this day and age.

Most complete effort all year from top to bottom of the lineup. I’m just a PLD super fan (from day 1, through good and bad), I just love how he seems to thrive in this type of game. Samberg looked like a future all star last night and if we get something close to that moving forward, look out! I think after the Knights got tired of going out of their way to run us through the boards at every opportunity, we settled in and flipped the script being more physically dominant. All other aspects also fell into place and if we would’ve potted a couple of those goal mouth scrambles the score could’ve been really ugly for Vegas. Helle making that early clutch save point blank in the low slot certainly helped the Jets escape the early fire. Go Jets go!

With Nicky and Vladdy in your "playoff stable" I guess you don't a four game series, right?

they can win all 4 series in 4 games each - i don't care - lol. Its a 'for fun' draft, proceeds to charity, winner gets bragging rights and a trophy they have to keep for a year. I picked them up because what kind of a Jets fan am I if there are none in the stable?

Ehlers who? I would be more looking for Perfetti to return for impact.

On the subject of Ehlers, ridiculous that Hartman plays and scores when Ehlers is on the shelf. The suspension doesn t really deter those types of hits as the suspended player ends up back playing before the injured player.

Exactly, not to mention Hartman's long list of suspensions and fines. So much for punishing repeat offenders.

Keep in mind that Perfetti would not be very effective on the third or fourth line as he is still considered a rookie and is somewhat "fragile" . He also would not be in game shape. So where do you put him ? Certainly the spots on the first line are taken. The second line would be tough to crack once ( of if ) Ehlers is back. I don't recall Perfetti being on the PK so it's hard for him to replace Appleton. His only role might be as a backup for an injured player on the top two lines. ...ie) Depth

If there is a longer series or perhaps another series, injuries do happen. So it’s possible he finds his way into the lineup.

I hope Ehlers can take the rough going as well once he gets playing.

I like Wpg net situation better than VGK. I think Wpg can get by this VGK team but the next game will see a determined VGK team.

I watched part of the Panther-Bruins game. It's at a completely different level of aggressiveness than most of the other series. A fight-filled game with lots of constant abuse directed at several of the star players. Gudas in particular was very agressive.

There is definitely another level out there that we might start to see in our series and some of it may come as early as tonight. Hopefully, the Jets players can rise to the occasion.

Go Jets GO !
