I could be open to Babcock giving it a try ...... assuming he learned how to work with human beings and cut that old school coaching routine. - Alexzanki
Even if he did that he’s still an average to below average coach.
Babcock would be about 3 steps below the bottom rung on my coaching ladder !!
Laviolette favors veteran players vs. sheparding the prospects/younger players, and that's not what we want.
As Alex said above, Dumais is a victim of the archaic Canada Junior League rule that says they will keep players until 20 y.o., or they are on the NHL roster. That rule does not help a player's development in a situation like Dumais. He dominated the whole league - now MVP, staying there another year is worthless for his career progression.
The NHL and CJHL have to amend their agreement to allow players within pre-determined criteria can move on from the Junior Leagues to either the AHL or NHL.
Maybe Jarmo can reach an agreement with a European team and have him billeted over there, playing with/against older players.
