This is good news indeed. That he is already back on skates is a testament to his determination plus medical advances. Even though he is still very young, it will take time to get back to playing speed.

Interesting thought. I'd have to look real closely at it and of course like that Pinto is a centerman and IIRC has good size. ........ I would say however Reichel is more skilled, a much better skater and has a higher ceiling. From what I remember Pinto tops out as a middle 6er but more likely a 3C.

Didn't realize Pinto went 32nd overall. Might have to do that deal. https://www.eliteprospect...player/388979/shane-pinto

I would like to see Reichel play with true NHL top 6 talents for more than 1 game in a row. Would Pinto do any better playing with Entwhistle and Reese Johnson?

Short term Pinto probably meshes better. Long term the better skill player is Reichel.

So B Clarke press box last couple games. Kings not willing to play him and determine if he is good enough to take anyone job. Eventually next season or later Clarke will break in

I'm a Reichel guy, just amazed at athletes in any sport with that explosive quick twitch. But, IMO he'll never be an NHL center and Pinto is. And Pinto is not new to me. He played 2 yrs USHL and from what I remember the kid is a 2 way player that's smart in a kinda Stone mold.

Average skater, not fast just makes plays. A legit NHL centerman, 6ft 2in and a right shot. Hawks have a few in the pipeline that are speed/skill wingers like Reichel but none that we know of yet (Misiak?) like Pinto.

And yes, Reichel plays with AHLers for the most part but when Pinto put up 35 pts as a rookie in OTT they weren't exactly stacked. Looking at Pinto's resume kid is a pt a game player at every single stop.

And he's only 23. Right now the Hawk's organIzation could really really use a legit NHL centerman more than the upside Reichel brings. And the Hawk D rookies have great size the forwards do not, they are smallish and Pinto is 6ft 2in 200lbs and plays to his size.

Kid checks a whole lotta boxes that the Hawks do not have and the timing is perfect for an add like Pinto..

. The

The Kings gave right shot defenseman Doughty, Roy, Spense ahead of him. Clarke was leading the A in scoring (yes as s D man). Kind of have to wait for his turn.

J, you seem to post about Clarke every day. Instead of going day by day with the kid understand as a 20 yr old Dman he has 32 pts in 30 games in the AHL!! ........ Kid will be an NHLer probably in the mold of a Bouchard at least.

Same. Kid doesn't turn 22 til May and while he hasn't taken the jump we all would've liked to see this season, I still think there's something there.

Also, like others have mentioned, you'd be selling low on him for pretty much no reason other than fans have soured.

Hawks have played a simple north-south get after it game and their best hockey since Bedard went down. I expect that to continue but WPG is a big test. ........ I'm most interested to see the PP tonight. They whipped the thing around and had better zone time without having to run it thru an 18 yr old Bedard who's trying to figure it out.

If you can’t see he’s washed up I feel embarrassed for you. Besides look who drafted him, he can’t possibly be any good, now or ever.

D, you think a straight up Pinto for Reichel is selling low?

I think Pinto would be a great get, but instead of Reichel, how about for a second and a third?

Always tempting to see if a trade can be broadened with our objective to move up in the ‘24 Entry Draft. Simply swap our 2nd for their first and maybe an exchange of one prospect going the other way for both teams. It is something to consider as it resolves moving a player(s) either team is unsatisfied with. The early 2nd is how many slots up from their first /or of gaining that pick we now have three first round selections. Should the lottery balls put us any choice after #3 overall, while we have assets this year GO FOR the top two forwards in this ‘24 draft

A means to an end is to establish two young forwards together or on separate top two lines.

Maybe Moore or Hayes will one day be a top six. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel which is a competitive playoff team. We may very well revamp and improve bottom lines primarily when prospects are ready but it is hardest to find available and draft top six forwards

Go for it. Ottawa represents a team more likely to exchange draft choices. They also would like to pay less salary? Do Pinto subtraction and Reichel add might be of interest

Of course there may be no trade the top two teams in the draft is willing to consider. Nonetheless we would then have three of the top quality picks in round one. Where odds is more likely to get difference makers

BTW check out the TOI and inexperience Montréal has been going with (and will continue) the entire season on their blue line. It is working out ok for them, so maybe we can expect the same approach could work for us. As early as next season

There will be a time for trading draft picks as things shift gear in the future, but hopefully they can do better than Pinto.

I would like him to be a bit better in that crucial 15 feet from his own blue line. Needs to make better decisions but he does manage to find one or two good chances a game.
