If Phillips is indeed in along with Jones, they’ll be dressing the best six dmen currently on the roster, although Jones has been out for a month. If the forwards play responsible and skate back hard, they won’t give up eight goals tonight like they did the last time they played the Stars.

A Holtz snipes #10 goal tonight He has been somewhat of a disappointment but continues to get descent TOI. For not yet really being in stride as a scorer and points guy, that comes out to 20 goals on a second or bottom line

He is fast/can play at speed? I wonder if wiz likes him? No probably won’t happen but if they trade Mrzak to a team that wants goaltending help, Holtz might be worth scouting. He has the ability and skating pedigree and may turn out to be top line material

Phillips not in tonight? How much longer does he hang around before skating again but for Rockford? Well wait about an hour maybe he draws in tonight after all (replaces Zaitsev)

When the 2025/26 season unfolds I am hoping eight of the 12 forwards will be draft choices from previous years & a few veterans still around (Foligno plus ??among forwards).

On defense I predict Kk, Vlasic, Crevier, DelMastro

Jones might still be around. That leaves Kaiser, Phillips, Allen contenders for 6th spot

Eventually one year I wish we could peddle Jones and a first for whatever - maybe a second round. But Jones’ contract is onerous and may not be movable for nearly the entire term/length Jones is good is some ways but I cannot get past his weakness in coverage holding back/thwarting on rushing forwards.

WHOA ... that last shift - the like minute 9-8 of the 2nd --- that was awesome - like the stuff that other teams were doing -to- the Hawks.

Man I love the way these guys have been putting in the effort.

Guenzel reportedly wants a new contract and his agent withdrew from negotiations Does Guentzel want a big payday which he figures the Penguins cannot afford

The Penguins would want draft choices and begin a serious rebuild after they likely do not advance far - if they even make playoffs

If they trade Guentzel the Blackhawks do not seem to be a trade partner. KD will be loathe to trade draft choices. How would a scorer for Bedard look? Would we draft best player available our turn our own choice in ‘24 and it might not be a forward or the forward we hoped for?

Food for thought but no expectations right now. After the season who knows what teams might do

Phillips --- to play or not to play? That is the question. Ok I'll say it (but that's just my opinion)- who cares? If that's the team's biggest problem - then the team doesn't have many problems.

Plus if the team is playing the way you are wanting them to - as a coach it makes it really tough to justify fiddling around with things. You can argue the Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg games have been exactly that.
