I would rather have Middlestadt than Hertle or Kutsnetsov. But maybe I'm just Dumb.

Duclair and Dumb are perfect trade deadline additions

I do wonder how many times he got called 'Dumbo' and later 'dumbass' as a kid growing up. I would have changed my last name if that is what I was born with.

Awesome. Bring back the buzztron where you claim you were right on 3/4's of the games and predicted them incorrectly. How many times will you say a team will win in OT and they lose in a shootout but you claim it was a correct prediction again?

OR get ready for the "final standings" predictions where some teams play 80 games, others 84.

The problem is that he doesn’t have 80 fingers and toes so it’s easy to lose your spot in the math

I would expect Kotkaniemi or Kuznetsov would be better 2Cs than Drury.

Drury's got good chemistry with Noesen so don't want to split them up.

Kotkaniemi lost his spot there to Drury anyway. And at this point they're more or less just rolling four lines pretty evenly.

Is Mittelstadt the 2C the Avs need? He doesn’t replace Kadri from the Cup team. He’s pretty good 5x5 but he’s not good in the defensive zone. Casey’s inconsistent and has never surpassed 15 goals. I’ve watched him since high school and like him but is he a 2C for a contender?

Pretty darned stout. I also like:

Jonathan Drouin - Nathan MacKinnon - Valeri Nichushkin
Artturi Lehkonen - Casey Mittelstadt - Mikko Rantanen
Miles Wood - Ross Colton - Zach Parise
Andrew Cogliano - Yakov Trenin - Nikolai Kovalenko

Devon Toews - Cale Makar
Sam Girard - Josh Manson
Jack Johnson - Sean Walker

I like when the Buzztron has some teams finishing 18-0-2 and then someone else goes 1-18-1 down the stretch. Totally arbitrary. You either win out or lose every night. Or weird stuff like a team currently has 10 OT/SO losses, but magically finish with 8.

That Mittelstadt trade was so damn good for you guys. I LOVE the way he fits in that roster. Scary.

I like the ones where a team finishes out the season like 13-5-3 despite only have 19 games left to play on the schedule.

It was scary to trade Bo but something had to be done about that Naz Kadri sized hole. Getting Guentzel for one roster player and no top prospects was every bit as impressive. Bunting never fit on that team anyway. I should have put an asterisk next to Kovalenko's name - Nikolai Kovalenko of Raleigh, NC.

Or teams that have 4 OT/SO losses after 62 games. But then have 14 more over their next 20. Might as well just pick lotto numbers.

Guentzel wouldn't discuss extensions with anyone. Not getting a high end prospect without an extension. Makes no sense from a buyer's perspective to give up a great asset for potentially <30 games played. Friedman just said yesterday that Dubas either wanted a quantity package or a high end prospect. No team was willing to move a high end prospect without an extension and Dubas liked the prospect package CAR had the best. Was a weak seller's market at the deadline. Lindholm and Monahan got a premium early so maybe sellers shouldn't procrastinate in the future.

Giroux yielded Tippett (and a 1st) who was a 10th overall pick and Giroux pretty much locked Philly into Florida as well. It comes off as more media excuses for Kyle Dubas who's constantly portrayed as not just a competent GM but one of the best GM's in the league. As I always say, find someone who loves you and excuses everything you do the way the hockey media loves Kyle Dubas and excuses everything he does.

Why would Seravelli or Friedman care about Dubas? Most TDL grades are highly critical of Dubas so not sure where you're seeing the media not criticize him. Moreover, Toffoli got a worse relative return as a full rental. Henrique did well though he can player center too. I'm sure if Dubas tried moving Guentzel earlier when Monahan and Lindholm got traded he would have done better. But PIT fans would have FREAKED OUT if he did that.
