I'd imagine both Sieder and Raymond want max term and their agents probably are pushing that.... which could go either way in the Wings favor or against.... both players work hard and have shown the ability and want to improve...... as it stands mo probably comes in around 9 per and Raymond I'd guess around 8.... unless Raymond wants the shorter term to earn more if he believes in himself....who is Raymond's agent Jeremy?... not sure how Lemiuex negotiates but nevertheless both players agents have ammunition to bring to the table.....

I’d like to apologize for the other day. I left a wienerhead comment that was totally unnecessary.
While I love reading about the Wings and equally dislike broadcasting updates, there was no need for me to act like an idiot.

I generally enjoy your blogs. Keep up the great work. Cheers.

Only saw the highlights of the GR loss but although Cossa might have been hung out to dry on some, some he just flat out got beat from far away on goals he should have had. Hopefully he bounces back in the next one and the team in front of him plays better.

Will be interesting to see if Yzerman goes long term with both Raymond and Seider or if he chooses to go bridge deal with one or both to give more cap flexibility in the short term.

What i'm most interested in this off-season is if Yzerman will fix the damn defense by getting rid of Holl and Petry and bring in a real top 4 RHD to play with Edvinsson. Will need to replace some scoring depth up front but that could come from the prospects.

The whole broadcast thing is frustrating, for sure. I can understand disdain for seeing updates on it, but Jeremy knows his broadcast stuff and wants to ensure the fans have as much info as possible to make informed decisions and plan ahead on how to be able to watch the Wings play. From my seat, his updates show how badly we’re getting screwed.

For me, apologizing for one’s actions is very admirable…shows maturity and deserves respect. Well done.

I think Mo goes 8x8.5. We’ve got to lock him in, he’s THE defensive lead for us. Kid’s logged big minutes vs top/super-star players and wears them out. Give him a more reliable set of line-mates and watch him explode.

Rayzor was a bridge for me. Then….31. I still think he goes shorter term; 5x7, max. That way he can come back for a bump or move to another team. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind seeing him go 8x7 or so. That will give the cap gurus a set slate and account for increased cap numbers and work their magic.

We have GOT to get a stud C….I’d love to see Lindholm come over, but I think his pay-day will be more than we want to pay, or that we can afford to pay. ‘Course moving Chiarot & Copp would free up some serious cash to go after a stud (C or D). We definitely need help on both. Lindholm’s the guy who will take top opposing D away from Larkin and open him up to go ballistic. And I’m sure he’d put up some great numbers as well.

Wow, thank you so much for this. It means more than you can know. Forgiven/forgotten and let’s move ahead. I need to be reminded of what the reader feels, there is no doubt. Bless you

I don’t know Raymond’s rep, Octopus Thrower did a nice breakdown which threw out some 7x7+ scenarios. https://octopusthrower.co...ymond-potential-contract/

Lemieux is, from 2nd hand and lower accounting that’s made its way to me, a good player rep. I would like to see Seider’s deal addressed first for a bit of a different reason. Seider has always seemed to have maturity beyond his years (Raymond seems very solid as well) and his approach should impact the Raymond negotiation. It’s clearly not going to be a question of opportunity, but of vision. There is hope amongst the players and ownership that Utah could help gain approval of a higher cap. That could lead to a slightly shorter term if the belief is that a better payday awaits. Regardless, these two players both stepped up at young ages. Larkin was our first 19 year old NHLer in a while. Seider’s 2nd year would likely have been in the NHL if not for the global situation. Raymond came in and made an impact. If there is “belief” in the vision, or buy in (pick your cliche) i think these will be very productive and stabilizing deals.

I’d love Lindholm. I think Utah will open the purse strings and could drastically affect the center market. I am curious to see how Veleno fares. He’s a depth player, but bought a lot of respect from me in terms of his defensive work and being more tenacious without the puck. I don’t want to overvalue depth, but Joe V took on a new role and I was impressed to see him embrace it

He took a big defensive step, no doubt. We need that stud C to take the limelight off of Larkin. We saw what happened; rudderless. Every team out there knows "take Larkin out, and the Wings can't fly" (not insinuating purposeful injury...). We have GOT to find the spot-light C. Now, defensively, Copp & Veleno are strong defensively, but I'd re-up Veleno & trade Copp, I think Veleno's gonna be one of those long-term, solid, steady, defensive forwards that make money for us routinely. Not a super-star, but VERY reliable on the defensive side.

I see The Yutes getting busy and having a big impact on the market. And this couldn't come at a better time....as long as they allow us to get Lindholm!! But, honestly, I don't foresee a jaw-dropping move in UFA for us given how Kasper & Danielson show in camp. I'm not gonna barf if Nate Dog makes it. May see us remain with the group fairly intact awaiting Nate & Marco to land & acclimate to the NHL..... OR, maybe not 🤣🤣

Seider, lock him up with 8 x $8.65
Ramond 3x $5.25M, only because Y needs to shed salary and bad contracts before he can totally commit to Raymond. Y caused his own cap struggle.

Forget about Lindholm if he still wants $9M AAV. go for a second-tier C guy like Domi, Stephenson, Monahan with a 4-5 yr contract. Get rid of Copp.

Agree on Veleno. Will be solid, can move up when needed, just keep that same work ethic. Am very interested in watching Danielson at camp and the prospects tourney

Definitely need to dump some bad deals if they can. Yeah, that ask from Lindholm won’t work. Florida has a guy in line for a raise and Utah could look to “overpay” to get a big name then Lindholm becomes the focus of several teams. Acquisition of a center may be tough but the market is hitting a weird place. Capped teams but a market where players want to get money in the bank. Could be some interesting side deals made

Yeah, good call on Rayzor with a bridge. I would think it might be a tick higher, but who knows. Guves him some incentive as well as potentially higher priced long term. Ultimately, I think we need him long term, however we get there. He's shown he's worth it.

I'd really lile Lindholm, but I do wonder if there's stomach to bring in a UFA like him who'd be willing to stay under Larkin's deal. And, honestly, I just don't see it happening. The kid's got a boat-load of talent despite his drop-off after the move. But when this kid hits on all 8 cyl....he's sublimely magical and would be a huge asset for us. Consider too, Kasper & Danielson coming up, having Lindholm would take some of the pressure of them to blow everyone outta the water in their rookie seasons... Would love to have the guy. But tend to agree with you; not likely to come to HockeyTown.

I am still weary on giving 8 years big money contracts to players than never played in playoffs. It's a different game.
Seider needs to drive PP1 next season to see what he has offensively, because so far, it's not much.
Ray Ray is still on the smaller side and is a winger, they get ground down in the playoffs.
Not to mention that Simon E could surprise us all and develop his O-Game even further.
I dunno, tough call.

Although now headed to overtime, Eddy had a beautiful drive to the net (went off the pipe) after beating 3 skaters. Moves really well. Was 3-1 with 4 minutes left, GR in the lead and the Rockford got 2 in about a minute. Rough night

I don't get hung up on Calder Cup playoffs that much.
Remember when Nyquist, Tatar and AA won one?
That never translated to star-dome in the NHL, while they were serviceable, of course.

Griffins win in OT... 4-3. Berggren with the OT goal. Kasper, Soderblom, Shine with the other goals. Huge win. Next game Sunday in Rockford.

Except this team has more talent in GR than we've seen in over a decade. Of course not every good prospect is going to reach "star-dome'... that is exceeding rare in any organization. Only the elite will reach that. What we are looking at now are some very good prospects who will give the Wings some much needed depth across the board. Edvinsson and Danielson certainly have the potential to be elite given their current skillset, age and develpment progress.

This whole “cardiac kids” stuff is hard on a fan! Well done GRG! Thanks for the update, Vladdie!

Great to Kasper’s name, he’s got some serious potential in a deep team. Really want to see him explode… he plays with a bit of an edge which is something we need when playing in the NHL….. Interested to read your thoughts on Soderblom? Strikes me as a guy who could really be a beast, or a bust….. with his size and reach, would think he could bring some serious heat, but is going to need a bit more time to develop simply because of his size….

I’d offer that those guys languished under an old leadership chain that relied upon an out-dated and simply wrong developmental program. Those guys over-cooked in the A. Nyquist, whilst not Crosby or McDavid-usque, is a critical cog in Smashville’s machine. AA had motivational issues and wasn’t developed adequately. Tatar was a good one, but again the developmental program under Holland wasn’t exactly a focus.

GRG is a snapshot of what The Wings could be with some luck, self-motivation, and focused mentoring and coaching.
