Could be but lou isn't known for standing pat so I think something will happen. - Upstate_isles
Yeah that's just my opinion, not what I think will happen. I don't have high hopes that anything I think should be done, will be done. |

Butchie said the other night that he expects to see Barzal on PK soon.
Lots of teams put their best players on PK. Remember when Weight or Cappy threw JT out there? |

I don't want Barzy out there blocking shots all the time like Casey. |

I agree. I want Barzal to get his minutes 5 on 5 and the PP.

I don't really want him out there on PK either. Just saying I heard Butch mention it and others on here are talking about it. |

Well Marchand is always out there and he's not blocking he's just smart and great on the pk. Generates a lot of chances short too |

As much as we end up on the pk, I don't want him getting started with the extra toi along with the shot absorption. He's fine doing what he's doing. I think our problems in the pk are more mental than personnel....except for Mayfield.... |

Islander offense is pretty much Barzal, Bo, and Nelson. Cannot have Barzal gassed playing PK when he may need more ice time during 5 on 5 and PP.

he's also improving greatly, right when he started talking about datsyuk, he started playing more like him in the neutral zone and backchecking really well clogging the zone being in exactly the right spot. kid plays like my likeness in the video game and I love it. just need to get superstars Donald Trump and Osama Bin Laden on his line so the islanders can win the cup every year π€£ - batteryjackson
Love Barzy and I was a critic and have been hard on him because I know he has the talent to play both sides of the puck.

Sometimes when Reilly gets ahead of steam it's like having flashbacks of Leddy |

That last shift from Barzy was superstar quality. From the scrum in the corner where he took the puck away to the set up for Bo, just a magnificent shift - keaner17
I think that may be the best shift I've ever seen him play. Also, considering it was OT.
I think he can/will get better. Not peaked yet. He's locked up and not going anywhere. Same with Ilya. There's no deal any team would offer to unlock either of them. Anyone suggesting trading either might need a lobotomy.
As for Mayfield....LL should bite the bullet and buy him out. He's 31 and the best years are behind him. He should NEVER be out in crucial moments or the PK. His size is no longer a strength. He doesn't fight. His shot is D2 level Beer League(at best) and he can't clear a puck to save his life when it matters....even if he has to ice it. Lets not mention the bad penalties at the worst times. I'd rather see Calvin deHaan back there than Scotty.
OK, maybe not CDH... but with Reilly claiming the #5 spot, Aho is younger & faster and has more upside in most situations. He won't replace him on the PK but

I would love them to find a way to unload Mayfield but there's just no way Lou will buy him out one season after extending him.
