Empty net goal 59 games - Upstate_isles
This game had all the signs of them blowing it. Glad they closed it down. |

I would love them to find a way to unload Mayfield but there's just no way Lou will buy him out one season after extending him. - keaner17
Haha, last sentence of my message got cut off....whatever
I tuned away from the game after Wings tied at 3-3. Found Animal House on MGM. Dean Wurmer scene. "Fat Drunk & Stupid....Mr Blutarski.....Zero Point Zero"
Followed by the Germans Bombed Pearl Harbor......
I switched back to the game at 5-3 EN.

Barzal was a beast in that 3rd period. Thought we actually got away with a penalty or two but we get (frank)ed all the time so I don’t care. Happy to be a little excited now about going on Saturday. |

I think Barzal has matured and also Patrick gets him as a coach. Stars have to be allowed to be stars. |

If they do, say goodbye to that 1st round pick. |

My older daughter’s travel soccer team is going. Didn’t even realize it was this weekend until a few days ago. I’ll be the tall dude in the away Potvin jersey. |

These are the Islanders sonyo7 know making it as the 8th seed and losing in 6 is what they will do and stay mired in mediocrity maybe they get in and get the rags |

The insane part of this is where we’re only 5 points out of 3rd place with a game in hand. |

Hey I’m all for them making the playoffs but realistically it’s a long shot. Love to see them play the rags in the first round. I don’t think they are as good as their record. See them as a possible first round loser. |

Sounds so simple but really isn’t. 😆
We need us to play great and then we’re relying on other teams to not. That’s where the problem is. Last year the Pens did that to get us in. |

The Metro division is clogged with a bunch of average teams other than Carolina and the Rangers. The way Lou thinks… |

The worst thing is the Islanders making the playoffs and out in the 1st round and Lou doubles down on the same offseason moves. Missing the playoffs would maybe get the attention of ownership.

I think that may be the best shift I've ever seen him play. Also, considering it was OT.
I think he can/will get better. Not peaked yet. He's locked up and not going anywhere. Same with Ilya. There's no deal any team would offer to unlock either of them. Anyone suggesting trading either might need a lobotomy.
As for Mayfield....LL should bite the bullet and buy him out. He's 31 and the best years are behind him. He should NEVER be out in crucial moments or the PK. His size is no longer a strength. He doesn't fight. His shot is D2 level Beer League(at best) and he can't clear a puck to save his life when it matters....even if he has to ice it. Lets not mention the bad penalties at the worst times. I'd rather see Calvin deHaan back there than Scotty.
OK, maybe not CDH... but with Reilly claiming the #5 spot, Aho is younger & faster and has more upside in most situations. He won't replace him on the PK but mayfield and cheaper. If Roy doesn't recognize a useless D-man then maybe I'm wrong but E5 I don't see Mayfield here next season. - jmo16
A GM buying out a player that he just signed to a 7 year deal the year before would be absolutely astounding. There's a zero percent chance they're going to pay him for another 12 years, minimal as that payment would be. |

The most important thing is that they finally got an empty-net goal. Pierre ENGvall |

No way it happens. Hopefully Pierre stays on the 3rd line and shows something.

I think he meant Mayfield but it's irrelevant. A GM buying out a guy he just signed for 7 years and having to pay over 12 years would be unprecedented, as much as most Isles fans would likely want to see it. |
