Not to take away from the Isles effort, but it kind of was. It was nice to see the B's play this poorly.

My buddy is a huge Bs fan and says it’s been happening a lot lately. We don’t realize it because we don’t follow them.

Its great to see the team winning the last few but now the problem is what Lou is going to do at the deadline. They can realistically make the playoffs, but do they have what it takes to make a deep run? I wish they would go one way or the other instead of teetering on the fence.

Going to be interesting to see if the team can keep it up. Still do not like the idea of trading another #1 pick. Last night had to help Palms value for sure. I doubt the Islanders are sellers now. Maybe if the Islanders make the playoffs and are one and done, they move Nelson and Palms in the offseason? I'm glad the Islanders have a coach that understands offense is important as well and you cannot get locked into the same lines.

I don't think Lou was ever going to be a seller.

Probably not Jimmy. Just hope the team’s future is not damaged after this year trade deadline. Strange thing is this year Islanders could get a good return on Nelson and maybe even something for Palms, but I get not moving them at deadline if the playoffs are a possibility.

Does anyone follow Bridgeport enough to know much about this goalie they have, Tikkanen? He’s 23, 6-foot-7 and his stats blow away the other goalies I’ve heard of. His dad’s name isn’t Esa is it?

Don't think that Esa Tikkanen's son, just the same last name

According to the BPT website he's not even with the team, he's back in the ECHL with Worcester. Looks like he had a nice run this year when he was with the Islanders though. 7-3-2 in 13gp and a 2.05gaa, .931sv%

But his stats in the ECHL are terrible. 3.11gaa and .896sv%

Not sure what to make of that one.

It actually seems as though they sent Appleby to the ECHL and kept Tikkanen at Bridgeport. He played in their last game.

His stats popped out to me kinda accidentally (I was looking at Maggio and Dufour’s stats) but his size was staggering so I was wondering how much of a prospect he actually is. He really doesn’t have a chance (none of them do really) of ever playing in the NHL here barring a catastrophe.

Weird yesterday the BPT website didn't have him there.

Regardless, it's odd to me that his ECHL stats are very bad and his AHL stats are very good. There hasn't been much talk about him so I'd assume there's not a lot there...yet. He's huge and NHL teams love big goalies so maybe he pans out in a few years.

Could the ECHL team just be bad and it’s hurting his numbers?

Worcester is 19th out of 28th ECHL teams but Bridgeport is (tied for) 32nd out of 32 AHL teams

I have no idea, it's pretty weird

That is very weird. Goaltending is one area the Islanders should not have to worry about.

Bridgeport was god (frank)in awful until the past 10-12 games where they’ve now just entered awful. Was just kinda surprised I had never heard of this guy, I didn’t remember them drafting him. I’m guessing his size is the biggest reason they took a flier on him.

#Isles GM Lou Lamoriello says Scott Mayfield is going on LTIR, shut down for 4-6 weeks.

Then a decision will be made regarding surgery.
