Saw a funny comment that TOR should bring back Babcock to make their players waive their NMCs.

I dont have much interest in Keefe because it would represent the typical hockey culture of hiring your friends and the guys you know instead of guys who could help. Can Keefe make a difference with the defense and powerplay? Doubtful. Nothing Keefe has done the last few years should justify him getting back behind the bench so quickly. If he takes an AHL job in WBS, I wouldnt love it, but I wouldnt hate it either. But the idea he could/should replace Sullivan down the line is ridiculous if thats what Dubas is thinking.

Side note - no idea how Mike Vellucci is still around. If I remember, Rutherford put him on the bench when he was GM after he worked with Rutherford in Carolina. You hear almost nothing from this guy. Not sure if he's like Milton from Office Space or what, but I figured when Rutherford left, Vellucci's time was ending too.

I have zero interest in Keefe. Zero. But... if we are running it back with Sullivan (which I have even less interest in doing) I am totally fine with hiring Keefe in the AHL if only to put some heat on Sully.

I'm more interested now in if Toronto might be willing to pay to take Sully off our hands. He is the type of coddler coach the players there would love.

Side note, now the poop Babcock pulled with Marner makes a bunch more sense. The "core four" are ultra primadonna's who have more interest in personal accolades and attention than winning.

Trade Sully to Toronto for a pick and hire one of Brindamour or Boucher (if they become available) and if not, hire Quenneville or Babcock.

Yeah. Getting Reaves off the top PP in New York has paid dividends. You got me there

Craig Berube is the best option available at the moment.

Smith and Malkin don’t jive that’s no secret. Once Bunting was acquire the best possible lineup was playing Smith with Eller. The two worked well together. DOC isn’t a good bottom six option but you can hide him with Crosby and Rust and at least get a little bit of value out of his limited skill set. Smith’s attitude or desire to stay in Cegas aside Smith is an all around better hockey player than Drew O Connor. But who isn’t really?
- Grinder47

Probably won't be on here much so going to wrap it up.

Malkin and Smith looked great to start the year for s month before Smith started moping. So I don't buy that excuse, especially since you want to use 2 periods as proof Sid and Smith worked.

Incidently, saw an article on Smith's season. Here's a crazy split. 6g, 6a his first 13 games with Malkin. Then he went to the White House with Vegas. His next 12 games he had one assist.

The one thing I agree with you on, Smith is more talented than DOC. He should have been better. But he wasn't because DOC hustled and he sulked. But I guess that whining is ok with you.

No way Carolina lets Brindy go, and the NHL still hasn't reinstated Q. Babcock only ever had success when he was handed an All Star team.

Doesn't matter, Sully is staying.

Haha. DOC hustled. Good one. Crosby and Rust are good enough to encapsulate DOC’s suck and even bounce a few in off his stick. I mean good on the kid for getting in position to do so. Can’t fault him there.

Based on Keefe's video he tweeted out after being fired, I get the sense he was too nice of a guy to succeed in a market like Toronto.

It's wild that you claim to like hard workers, but one of the hardest working players on the Pens you have a gripe with.

If both NJ And TOR are interested in Berube, I think NJ would be the better option for him than Toronto, if we are going purely off of teams. Obviously Toronto is better than Newark as a city.

Sullivan has one more year. We're looking for his replacement in '25.

I have neither the time nor the desire to speculate on who Dubas brings in next. I am confident he will have Sulli's replacement on the books soon.

3 more years. Which is why his contract could be traded. He's locked up.
