With Josi, Ekholm and now McDonagh on the left side who moves to the right side? Are they trading Ekholm for a RHD? Seems to me looking at their roster the problem on defense is their right side not the left so it seems very odd they would add another LD to me. |

Man Josi can play any position.. F. G, Wing ... RS ain't nothing for him.. I wouldn't even sweat that.

Good addition even though he is probably on the down slope of his career. Who is the odd man out now on defense? |

After the season he just had, i don't think i would be moving him to the right side. Why mess with something that works perfectly already? Ekholm or McDonagh are the likely ones to move to the right...question is how comfortable are either of those playing the right side? For some it's not a big issue but some others don't like it at all. Just seems like a very odd move to me when their weakness on the backend is on the right side. It would be like the Wings trading for a RHD when their weakness is clearly on the left side.
I did think there was a good possibility that McDonagh would end up in Detroit given Yzerman traded for him in Tampa and him and the new head coach Lalonde know him well...along with Detroit's weakness at LD. Possible they tried to convince him and he wouldn't waive for Detroit or Yzerman just wasn't interested because of the contract and age of McDonagh. |

I too hoped he was Detroit bound.
Maybe Detroit get's Sandin from the Leaf's
Mrazek + Sandin for Vegas's 4th
Stevie wants a younger team and less expensive, and if Mrazek fails as a BU, he get's waived. They have the space to do that. |

I'm hoping they sign Zadorov. 27 year old 6'6, 235 pound physical defensive defenseman. He will probably sign for 4 million or less on a shorter term deal. Would make a good partner for Hronek and then the Wings would have Seider and Zadorov putting guys on their butts for more than half of the game. |

Zadorov just came off a career year in Calgary where he made 3.75M. He will not be under 4M. Likely 4.5 x 4. Minimum. |

I'm not so sure about that. He's a defensive defenseman that doesn't add much offense at all. I think 4mil x 3 is about the max he will get. He's bounced around and that wasn't much of a career year...2 points more but 3 goals less than his previous best with the Avs playing on a top offensive team. I don't hear much talk about a lot of teams going after him in the off-season. I guess it is possible someone will overpay but given how many teams have little to no cap space to spend, it is less likely a team is going to overpay for a defensive defenseman.
The one thing he does have going for him is the defensemen UFA market is garbage this summer. You possibly have Letang, Klingberg and a whole lot of meh. Manson will likely get more attention after that for being the same type of player but a RHS which a lot of teams want. I think very few teams will have Zadorov as their number 1 guy to sign and if a team does make him a priority, they likely will get a better deal than waiting for teams that strike out on the the other bigger names to get involved and drive up the price. |

Yep and the Wings don't really have that type of big physical defenseman aside from Seider. Not sure how physical Edvinsson is going to be. Unlike Seider in the SHL i haven't seen a lot of big hits from him. |

You'll love McDonagh, though I've read lots of speculation on where he'll sit on the roster. He still has gas in the tank to play top 4 minutes and will be a strong addition to your PK. Best of luck! |

I wouldn't worry too much about what side McDonagh or anyone else plays on. Tampa was (obviously) very successful with Hedman, Sergachev and McDonagh on the left side. Fill in the right side with capable D, which Nashville has in Fabbro and Carrier, and whoever makes that last spot, they will be fine. |

You need a strong top 4 on both sides to go anywhere or teams will eventually expose that especially in the playoffs. |

Great move! Maybe sign Preds are going to be a Cap team and not spot the rest of the League extra talent. Maybe the Hasam Ownership move is allowing them to make some good Hockey moves. And getting rid of Pylon Myers contract in the move is a win win. Now get Forsberg signed and bring in another Forward too. |

Seattle signed Larsson who was coming off a 4g6a10p season to a 4x4 contract. And Larsson is 2 years older. 4x4.5M minimum. |
