They struck pay dirt with Hagel. We knew there was something there, and we were happy with the return, but he took it up a notch this year.

The price for Hagel was crazy too, but look at what he's done this year. Tampa must have some extra special tea leaves they are reading here because this is two seasons of unloading ridiculous draft packages for what appear to be middling players. The fact they got Nick Paul for so cheap when they're shelling this out for Hagel/Jeannot speaks to how poorly Ottawa makes deals. And Jeannot isn't even under contract - one has to imagine at this price they've got something long term and cost controlled lined up.

They're smart. They trade picks (unknowns) for youngish undervalued players that fit their style f play. Eventually it will catch up with them once their core ages out but for now it's working well for them.

As much as I enjoy watching the Lightning in the playoffs, And as much as I enjoy the Tanner Jeannot type players in the league this deal by BriseBois is not justifiable regardless of how he slices it. A reckless move to say the least.
