Well done. Your best blog yet.
I attended the rag doll event. It was mind boggling. Don Cherry hated Chara for the rest of his career. No European could ever be as tough as good Canadian boy. |

OK you are entitled to your opinion.
Dorion would make that trade in a heartbeat, but go ahead and believe what you want. |

Not true. If you google in Don Cherry and Zdeno Chara you will find numerous examples of Cherry praising Chara. He loves Canadians and has always stood up for Canadian hockey but he's not an idiot. |

I don't think even Dorion would make that trade. The Sens don't need another center. |

So you wouldn't trade for a better center? Move one to the wing? Have a super deep center position? Or trade a lesser one?

Tkachuk is a unicorn, one of a kind. I would seriously consider trading him for McDavid but not for anybody on the TO team.
Just kidding about McDavid. Tkachuk is not in that class but he is the cornerstone of the Sens team in a way Matthews could never be. |

To be honest not many players that plays Tkachuk games and puts up a pile of points
It would take a kings ramsom and then some to pry that kid outta of us
And to be honest neither Matthews or Marner would do it 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Plus he’s 2-3million cheaper 😂 |

Tkachuk - $8.2M for 5 years after this one
Marner - $10.9M for 2 years after this one +$2.7M ; 0.846 PPG in playoffs
Matthews - $11.6M for 1 year after this one +$3.4M ; 0.846 PPG in playoffs
Leafs 0 for 6 in the last 6 playoffs series. Both Marner and Matthews are elite regular season players. Both are exceptional talents. I'm still taking Tkachuk with his contract over either Leafs player.

oh okay...I guess a 60 goal center, who plays 200 foot hockey isn't worth a winger outside the top 20 in scoring.

If the Leafs subtracted Mathews and had Brady. I would guess they would have made the semifinals or final by now.
Mathews is obviously a good player. Not debating that . In fairness lets see what happens this spring. And what or if any extension. |

To be honest, 1st round consecutive exits dont really hold up to any merit. In fact likely hurt any disagreeing opinion.

If first round exits have no merit then what does not making the playoffs at all mean? It sounds like you've justified such a thing to make up for the sens lack of success.
Making the playoffs is worth something.

I mean, Brady Tkachuk is no slouch. Legit, a top LW if not a top winger in the NHL. But let's be realistic here...

True. It does.
Actually winning a playoff round counts even more. Matthews, who is a great talent, is just a 0.85 PPG, 0.43GPG player in the playoffs and has not come through when it counts the most.
So I'll take Tkachuk with 5 more years at $8.2M over your $11.6M Matthews with just 1 more year after this. I'm very confident that Tkachuk would be a beast in the playoffs.
I have felt sorry for Leafs fans for what has been a gut wrenching series of failures.
It seems that Leafs fans have renewed hope and optimism after an interesting and I would say successful trade deadline. It explains the need to come in our blog and tell us how great their players are. Maybe if you made it past a round or two we may be more open to your point of view.
As for making the playoffs, it should happen after the new owners come in and take full control.

What’s Tkachuk’s PPG in the playoffs?
Being the league’s ugliest player is worth something tho, in fairness to Brady

Sarcasm! Lol
Matthews and Marner is and are great players
Everyone knows that with any sense of hockey IQ
But that doesn’t change the fact that Sens Fans would keep Tkachuk over them 2 in a heartbeat
Just like Leaf fans wouldn’t trade either one of Matthews or Marner
It’s just how it is man 🤙 good luck in playoffs hope this is the year leafs breaks the curse 😏 |
