I can get the first part, but that's kind of what we're doing with the rest of the team, why not for goalie? IMO if we're okay with Savoie, Kulich, Rousek and RyJo being here next year but shy away from a 24/22 yo goalie tandem, we're kind of being hypocritical.

UPL started 33 games this year and had poor backup numbers on a horridly bad team in terms of defense and shots allowed. I just don't think it's crazy to think he could be a .910+ this time next year with a bit better support.

You are absolutely correct. The Sabres have clearly shown that they are committed to their youth movement. I suspect next year it will be Levi-UPL.

They will get defense help in the summer, They have to trade away some of the players out. We have too much talent in the pipeline ready to make the roster next year. That where they will get the D-Help. I bet, Mitts, OLO and possibly Skinner might be on the move

I have no statistics to back up my opinion, but how many nhl teams roll into a season with 2 guys at a total age of under 50, let alone 46/47 combined.

I could see upl traded for a goalie vet ....

Well it was a little to late but they finally have a goalie...... With all the talent we have in the pipeline I would not be surprised if they trade away some picks and a player like Mitts, OLO, Skinner for defensive help.

I think Mitts has turned a corner and I doubt they move on from him.

Oloffson I can see being moved, he brings almost nothing in 5v5.

No team is trading for Skinner unless we hold a serious amount of his salary, which seem highly unlikely.

Not to mention, how do they get to the cap floor trading skinner and replacing him with entry level contract?

Also I don’t feel they think any of the youngsters can crack the lineup without a strong dev camp, which would be too late in off-season for Olo and Skinner to be traded, imo. (With teams having their roster and cap in order).

That's the way I'm looking at the goalie situation.

Levi 50ish
Vet goalie 30ish

Upl shot to the moon.

No way they roll at a combined age of 47 years old, when Anderson was 41 himself this year.

Comrie could be a Rochester call up , if needed.

It would cut down on the habitual injured goalie situation though...

I know you're a big Fast fan.

I'd celebrate Staal and Fast. I'd be fine with Andersen too, would prefer Varlamov.

I've also cooled on Jost because the guy can't win faceoffs. I think the team may want to look at more versatile bottom 6 centers. Like Eakin, but can actually play in the NHL

The appeal for playing time is stronger here than on the Island.

Sorokin is going to play 60 games next year. Varly does well here and he can probably get up to 50-50
