Reinbacher falls to 16, you take him.
Now that Daryl’s gone can we have Valimaki back? |

Do the Flames drafting team get replaced when the new GM comes in?

I think they’ve done a really good job with the late picks they’ve had. I would hope they keep them and maybe the new GM adds to them. Do we have a new GM before the draft?
Or old Maloney going to sit at the head of the table? Conroy have a bigger say? So many questions. |

It's possible that the new GM will make changes to the Scouting Staff.

Maloney hopes to have a new GM in place by the scouting meetings in two weeks.

Highly unlikely that happens before the draft at this late stage. |

Hmmm? Phoenix or Calgary?
He’s flourishing there but couldn’t even get a sniff with Sutter but Micheal Stone gets a mile long leash.

Valimaki's staying with the Coyotes. The fact that we've always favored old and grit over young and skill explains our situation today. Maloney better keep his promise to bring a young and progressive GM in.

100% its time for a new vision in Calgary.
Hopefully the rumors of Murray selling are true too as we really need a complete re boot IMO. |

I agree. But the owner needs a stiff kick in the ballz. Just trying to make playoffs is the only reason they are in such a mess.

Here is my rant,
Letting Brodie, Gio, Bennett, JG, Gudbranson, Hamonic, Hathaway, etc go for nothing or for pennies on the $$$ is what got them in this mess.
They did this with the hope that they would strike magic in playoffs. This is about as smart as playing the lottery hoping to get rich. Every year is a Hail Mary.
I have heard Maloney say that they believe in this team on numerous occasions, that they have good players, and that they should be in playoffs. It seems that the "plan" is still in place. I think this team was built to lose one-goal games.
IMO the goal of the new GM should be:
1) Getting younger, faster, and more skilled by trading out the top UFAs/Vets.
2) Putting both Kadri and Huberdeau in positions to succeed so that they might find a GM desperate enough to take at least one of those horrible contracts.
Anyways, as long as Edwards just wants to make playoffs, this team will never attract elite management and coaches. They will also only ever attract FA's buy paying top $$$.

Exactly. If Edwards is still in control it makes a new vision harder to achieve.

I'll believe it when I see this new young GM. Just trying to make playoffs doesn't make any sense.

Here's a recent valuation by Forbes:
Calgary Flames
Current Value: $855M
1-Yr Value Change: 26%
Debt/Value: 14%
Revenue: $178M
Operating Income: $41M
The timing could be good for Edwards to sell his shares.
The Senators who are in a bidding process have a current value of $800M and bids are around $1B.

And that valuation probably doesn't include the sweatheart deal he got on a new arena...that will add significantly to the revenues going forward. |

The Htimen pass on Jarome's son and Edmonton takes him with the very next pick. IMO that was a blown opportunity, Iggy's kid would have put people in the stands and I hate the idea of Iggy hanging around Edm watching his kid play. |

All the articles and all the talk about the Flames letting go Chucky was the worse mistake Flames have made is annoying me so much. Everywhere they are saying, he is the reason Panthers are doing so well. He is an elite player that everyone needs and Flames lost him for Hubby who is no good. I really hope Hubby proves people wrong in the upcoming season. Man, I remember when I thought we did ok in that trade. Now all media and all writers saying that this is the best trade in the history of the Panthers franchise. Flames are a mess right now. |

Marketing blunder! Take the 5’ 6” guy that might not even play in the Dub. Missed opportunity to say the least. |
