Why would he? He was probably friends with them. He played until he was 14. - j.boyd919

I think a lot of Toronto’s problems stem back to Mathew’s carrying a purse. That said I think the right women would make a great GM. The general manager of my life is a women and she does an amazing job. |

Ah yes, keep getting your brain scrambled. That would have been a wise decision for him.

Yeah Dubas never tries to add better defenseman. So many clowns on this site lately. - Feds91Stammer
the stats DO lie
Giordano, slow footed, old incapable.
Luke Schenn, slow footed, old incapable.
mcabe...holl broadie ughhh
..a bunch of other guys.
Morgan Reilley
Lets do some digging to see who actually watches the games.
Only Reiley, and shockingly Schenn were plus' in the playoffs.
Gustafsson even because he hardly on the ice.
now.
Lets take arguably the best shut down pair. Pelech and Pulock. They play the same amount of time as Reiley, and combined they make about what Tavares makes.
If the Leafs had THAT pair, they'd be winning cups. Dubas is dumb. Pretty stats in the regular season mean nothing

hahahah ah fvck, thanks for all of that.
That Isles pairing couldn't play in net for the Leafs...that was their biggest issue in round 2, very subpar goaltending vs Bob playing elite..,..and yes, shoddy goaltending can effect a skater's +/-....but here using +/- in relation to who watched the games, or not, is one of the many hilarious things about your comment.
Isles were in the bottom 3rd of the league for 5 on 5 this past season. Their team D was not very good. Congrats on thinking you have the best shutdown pair in the league, perhaps they are, perhaps they're not, however team D comes from all players including the forwards. You had the best goalie in the league (IMO) and that masks all sorts of shortcomings. |

Ha yes it’s really far fetched to think that a kid who quit hockey at 14 didn’t get ridiculed by his peers because of it. |

I have to say I disagree with you. I've got no problem with a GM showing some emotion during the games. He's invested. Why wouldn't you want to play for someone like that? I also don't get the "whining about family" comment. Family should be first on any person's priorities.. no? - j.boyd919
I am not a big Dubas fan but his comments made me like him a lot more. I appreciate someone who can leave his fate in the air and is human enough to think about family in decision making.
We all want everyone in hockey to be robots, but reality is we are all human and family situations can play a huge amount into success or failure. Remember when Murray's dad passed away? Seemed like his whole career fell apart after that.

I can't believe there are actually rumors around about Mike Sullivan going to the Rangers to coach... does that make any sense at all?
What are everyone's thoughts on Guentzel? What does his next contract look like, should we trade him rather than signing him to a monster deal? Obviously still a very productive player... is he worth $9M for the next 8 years? I think that is what he will want and I'm not sure I like it. |

Mike Sullivan isn't leaving the Penguins and he isn't going to the Rangers. Writers need things to write about, Larry Brooks the writer who made this up even said it won't happen. How long has the media been clamoring for Bill Cowher to return to coaching?
Guentzel is a solid offensive player and an excellent shot. I don't give him what he wants. I give him a couple years past Crosby and Malkin with the hopes of trading him. He's no spring chicken, he turns 29 in October. |

Dude seriously. This place is basically the online equivalent to a beer league dressing room. A place we come to escape all other aspects of life for hockey and subsequently talk S#@T on each others stupid hockey opinions. Leave your Trump/Biden political opinions in the comments section somewhere else. In my actual dressing room the rule is, any mention of politics means you have to stand with your hands at your back while we throw tape balls at your groin. - greenyone

Guentzel is a great player. For the right swap I’d trade him for a different great player.

NYR fans think it's going to happen for some reason.
Jake is a better contract to sign than a guy like Horvat was. I think a 33 to 36 year old Guentzel will still be scoring 30+ goals if his center is in his 20's and is a strong playmaker. At that point we could just retain on any trade and get some pieces to help the rebuild.

Better yet, what are you thinking about buying with your remaining teeth? |

Ryan O'Reilly would be such a pipe dream this offseason. Talented offensive player that plays a full 200 foot game. That'd give us so many options again rolling out center depth of Crosby-Malkin-O'Reilly or it'd give us opportunities to move Malkin to wing and still have that 2nd center depth. |

I think I'd prefer pursuing someone like Max Domi if he's available, or maybe Barbashev or Compher. |

Not a bad option. I've been wanting a combination of Karmanos and Ventura coming back as GM and assistant. Tulsky would be a great option, but I can't see him leaving Carolina yet. |

Chiarelli left a wasteland in Edmonton when he left. Awful. No way he should even be interviewed. I like Botteril even though things didn't work out in Buffalo. Tulsky yes. Bergevin IDK. |

I could talk myself into Bots by telling myself Buffalo was a no win situation and the Pegulas have done a poop job with that organization but end of the day there’s a ton of risk there. |
