Can’t and won’t argue with the results if Gauthier is bringing it.

Kids impressive. He’s around the puck every shift. He fires everything at the net. I don’t remember seeing a player (may Austin Matthews? Ovechkin?) that love to shoot the puck that much. Sneaky play maker as well, when teams over commit to him as evidenced in the last game. Flyers may have hit on this guy, big time.

Thanks Bill! Writing about the USA in the Worlds has to be a welcome break from the Flyers!

I say he waits 4 years to avoid Flyers, but I am a pessimist by nature. Actually, I do not really believe this due to the money aspect of delaying, but with the NIL agreement it is cause for concern. What is the max a college player can earn with NIL?

He's playing well against men but the level at the WCs is still nowhere near the NHL. Like Tynan and Grimaldi are leading the USA in scoring and they're 30-yo replacement players. Laughts is a stop-six C for Canada, etc.

Cutter needs to put the feather in his cap and go back to college.

Correct , however a young 19 year old me see it differently when the NHL is his goal for probably a very long time. That's all I am saying. Especially when he said prior he only wanted 1 year of college.

It is good he is producing. A good first step for next year. I don't get all giddy or would I get all down if he wasn't.

Side note I wan the flyers to get an extra 1st and take Gavin Brindley. Been watching him for years. One of those kids with that "it" factor to be a good NHL player.

Zero chance. He'll be a Flyer by the end of the 2023-24 season unless BC wins the national championship, in which case he will turn pro for 2024-25. The Flyers WANT him to play an extra collegiate season to get more experience at center. With Team USA, both at the Worlds and the WJC, he plays LW.

Gauthier isn't going to wait until Aug. 15, 2016, just so he can "avoid" the Flyers. He'll turn pro late next season, burn an ELC year and get his pro career going.

will the flyers then yo-yo him around between wing and center?

Or will they develop a plan and stick with it for more than a 2 weeks?

Probably time to drop the center idea, he clearly excels at the wing. Did he even play center at BC the majority of the time?

I don't think it's really up to him. If Danny says go back to BC, he has no other choice.

Plus BC should be a pretty fun team to play on next season with Leonard and Smith going there. Might be the best line in collegiate hockey if they all get put together.

Disagree. He could then say fine, I will then test free agency after i use up my eligibility and sign elsewhere. IMO he has more leverage

Wonder where JOB ends up as haven't seen a peep of what teams, if any are interested.

There's a significant sacrifice his career earnings if he went that route. If he signs with the Flyers he could burn thru his entire ELC by 22-23. If he waited to go UFA he'd be stuck playing on an ELC until age 24+. That is probably a difference of millions of dollars to him.

no doubt he would give up a ton of cash. Hockey players aint the brightest. Just saying it is a possibility. Plus if it came to that he would be traded.

That being said wonder if he gets any NIL money.

I wouldn't be in a rush to pick Gauthier's position. Fellow 5th overall pick Brayden Schenn spent six years here without settling on wing or center.

Let’s maybe pump the brakes and remember who he’s playing against before the Matthews and Ovi comparisons lol.

compared to other sports yes not much. Be curious to see what hockey players do get, though too lazy to look.

Their owner Dundon won't spend to the salary cap limit like the juggernauts flyers. Still they ice a considerable better product.
