The issue with Tortorella expecting the Flyers to be different now is that there is no different available. He has had the team playing at playoff level intensity for the entire season. There is no more. |

do you think the flyers will sign any of the top college free agents? if so any names to throw out there? they even talking to anyone?
Or will they end up with Mike Testiwied or whatever his name was.... - hello it's me 2050
Which one of them, after watching Torts dig in to his players repeatedly, really wants to come here and prove they have "the balls"?
They could just go somewhere else a lot less tumultuous, like Cutter did... |

you don't say....will await the rizzo
only thing they may have to offer over some others is a quicker path to the nhl as the flyers lack talent. thats all I got. Me I would want no part of philly either as when you drill it down you see LHV with cement head in charge. |

I hope not. College free agents at best are middle to back of the roster types. This organization is full of those type of players already. |

Flyers so busy locking in bottom-pair and bottom-six dudes to multi-year deals, there's not exactly a clear ladder up to the big club. And the pipeline is already full of B/C tier prospects to compete with.
If I'm a college UFA or their representative, I'm steering clear. |

Once in a blue moon you get a Rafalski or Boyle, but yeah... doubt the Flyers would ever be that lucky. |

well those type are not good enough that they hav ein house. rather take a shot with some fresh blood who have been developed elsewhere. cut the dead weight or do not renew the ahl contracts.
just because they fit that role doesn't mean you don't look or try. |

hence the key word "may"...every team has those b/c level prospects so your not going to get away from that on any clubs except maybe at best a few.
though yes I stay clear unless last resort. |

I was listening to Ghost on Nasty Knuckles and he brought up coaches...
So I got curious to remind myself and looked up the history of Flyer coaches of the past. Other than Shero in the 70's, no coach EVER in the history has coached more than 4 seasons for them! Keenan coached exactly 4 seasons for them to be placed 2nd for the franchise. 3rd? Dave Hakstol with 277 games....
Brind'Amour with Carolina is in his 6th season!!
That really says a lot about the franchise. |

Not true at all. Reduce the players salaries. The scale would still be the same. they could drop down to like 70 games and be financially fine. The cap always for player /revenue split. But they Absolutely could reduce the games.
Greed keeps it where it’s at
- Stayin alive
How do they reduce the players salaries? What mechanism do they use to do that?
Obviously if league reduced games for example to 70 games the players contracts would be prorated down on per game rate to reflect that.
Obviously this would be cba issue but obviously players would do it. The point is it can be done and teams still profitable.
Personally I think 82 games is too many. But doubt they ever reduce games because owners and players want more money and I highly doubt they would ever lower schedule in any real significant manner
The point was more that your statement was factually wrong as you wrote it

Snider did not have any patience.
But you can also say Carolina hasn't won anything with Brind in 6 years. Time for a change?

They always do well in the regular season and are always picked by some pundits to win it all at the start of every season (this season included) and then they go belly up once the playoffs start.

Agree, i think most team would have moved on by now. I want Brind to get a cup, he was one of my favorite Flyers. Carolina has enough talent to win it this season. Guentzel needs to start scoring, assists are fine but he was traded for his goal scoring.
