NO MORE TYLER.

Trade Berggren for Logan Mailoux. Habs want a scoring F, we need a RD.

H2 you are always so good to drop in. Thanks brother. I hope one day we can break burgers at a game!

For sure on RD. watching Tuomisto my buddy C is right. Seems a little slow at times but can make good stretch passes. Just not sure how much speed you can add at this point. Make sure to screen shot this in case you get a mic drop later

Listen, I liked the energy Bert brought, but that train has left the station. He had great chemistry with Larkin, for sure. But I think we need to focus on a solid RD, a C, and a G....be that a combo of drafting & UFA or trade, or bringing someone in from GR. Just don't think Bert's the answer to our questions....

As a Leaf fan, I hope they move some cap and find a way to make Bert stay. He’s easily become one of my favourite players.
He can definitely be a frustrating player, however, has solid flashes from time to time on the scoresheet.

On the topic of player movement: I really feel this will be one of these offseason for the ages. Toronto will need to shake up their core, Ottawa and Buffalo need a game breaker, Utah should make some wild moves, and it’ll be interesting to see what Tampa and Vegas do (especially Vegas to become cap compliant). Additionally, do the Hawks swing big or stand pat? The Isles need a new identity. The Devils have to be huge players.

And the Wings, does Yzerman feel he’s under a microscope. Does he take a risk or 2 this year?

Yzerman is certainly under a microscope now... next season will be his 6th as GM. Best thing to do is bring up the talented prospects from Grand Rapids who are ready: Edvinsson (no brainer), Berggren, and Johanssen. That will infuse some energy and youth in the lineup this team needs. It should also bolster the blue line. Nathan Daneilson may be good enough in camp and preseason to make the jump right to Detroit... (he looks that good). Just wish we could dump Holl's contract and possbily trade Husso (or maybe do a buyout). Hard pass on Bertuzzi.

Wings need a RHD that can step into the top 4 next season and be solid not someone who in a year or two might be a top 4.

He played 1 NHL game, that doesn't mean he is NHL ready or ready to be in the top 4. Buffalo stupidly thought the same thing with Levi after he played 7 games to end the season before this one and that backfired on them pretty badly this season.

There is also nothing that says Montreal is looking to trade him. They likely see him and Reinbacher as their #1 and #2 on the right side in the near future.

Mailloux does look promising but i would rather the Wings get someone with NHL experience that you know he is a solid top 4 RHD to make a solid pair with Edvinsson.

Yzerman didn’t want Bert. He chose to trade him instead of working on an extension. Bert never wanted to leave and he won’t be coming back.

Berggren will most likely be with a different organization next season.

I'm fine with that IF he can be packaged in a trade for a top tier center who's at least as good as Larkin (or maybe a talented young NHL defenseman). Yzerman brought up Berggren at the end of the season which I thought was interesting. I think he may have done that to appease Berggren's dissatisfaction of being stuck in GR all season (since he was waiver exempt). Will be interesting to see if Yzerman can still work out an extension. I like the fact Yzerman is willing to walk away from the table if he thinks the demands are not worth it. That is why he let Bertuzzi walk from the rumors I read... Bert wanted too much salary and term. It was the right choice. Bert isn't worth anything close to 5 million that Toronto paid him this season.

Trade Maatta to make room for Edvinsson. Simply because his contract is actually tradeable. Sign Matt Roy.

Walman-Seider
Edvinsson-Roy
Chiarot-Petry
Holl

But if you cant acquire or sign a top 6 center then its all pointless. Have been saying that for many, many years. Its worse watching the team draft wingers or low ceiling safe picks. Swap Rasmussen for Nick Suzuki and this is a contender.

Which teams are trading top tier centers as good as Larkin? If they are, the ask is Seider. Teams don't trade 1Cs just for fun.

Yeah... true. They don't grow on trees and teams do hang onto them. Just need a better 1-2 punch at center. Somebody better than Compher so he can get pushed down to the 3rd line center. My hope is Danielson is going to be a special player to help fill the void and be the #1 or #2 center down the road. We'll see what heppens. I've been watching Kasper alot in Grand Rapids... and it's been fun to see him improve... he had a slow start with North American hockey this season... but he's finally seemed to have hit his stride. Hope he keeps developing and keeps getting better.

I’ve heard a completely different set of events. Essentially, the proposed $ were so far apart that it made the trade happen. Regardless, you’ve been right on several things and the end result is the same in terms of leaving. Bertuzzi’s ask on the market was shunned down to the 1 yr deal he ended up with, but didn’t get the season to go with it.

On that we agree. We’ve both heard very similar issues on that situation

I think you’re right in terms of a big off season. Leafs have around 10-11m in space with 13 players signed. Matthews’s first bonus is coming up on the new deal, around 16m USD for year 1. Under today’s conversion that’s almost 22m CAD, fairly close to this year’s rates. Tampa has a squeeze, Vegas and others. The cap just hasn’t risen like it was hoped

Nah. He literally didn’t negotiate with Bertuzzi at all. Yzerman is a bit of a Richard.

Not what happened at all but I understand why that’s the narrative out there.
