Michael Brandsegg-Nygard sounds like the type of pick the Wings make but they shouldn't...a low ceiling high floor type of player like Rasmussen. Wings don't need another bottom 6 player they need a high talent that could possibly become a top end player and a difference maker. Plus the Wings haven't had much luck with players with 3 names. Hopefully Axel Sandin Pellikka changes that but why take that risk with a guy that projects as a bottom 6 forward.

I don't know that much about this draft but earlier on i really wanted Silayev just to have him Edvinsson and Seider in the top 4...then you could pair him or Edvinsson with Seider with the other paired with ASP in the future if they developed as projected. Sadly the Wings have no chance at Silayev unless they traded up into the top 5.

I've heard some talk about the Wings taking Iginla's kid but not sure he will still be there at 15th. Also heard about Buium's brother but again he probably won't be there either.

Eiserman would be a swing for the fences pick if he is still there and i would be ok with that. He was considered a lock for a top 5 pick before this season.

I was just elated that we didn’t fall to the 16th pick. Our draft order was where we were predicted to be.

I’m in full agreement that they are going to go after the best pure goals scorer. They have too many all around good players coming up, so I see them doing this. I don’t think any of the elite defenseman will be available, unfortunately, but you got a wonder the kids in the system or stack the Red Wings. Optimistically, it’s looking really good.

Haven’t heard anything about Ghost. Kane, Sprong and Fischer (corrected from typing the wrong name, total miss) out (the latter two looking for market raises). My friend says he found an article in French of Perron being doubtful to return. I can’t confirm that one. Haven’t seen article yet

I can get on that frequency. There is a lot of apathy for Nygard. If, big if, Eiserman is still there I’d like to see them take that shot

I think you’re right on D. Supposed to
Be “little separation” in 8 to 10 high ranked D. I don’t want to hear the word “utility” in the first round.

Quick add, if Iginla’s kid is available also a look. Jiggy was a special player.

Who's Christensen? The only one i can think of that you might mean is Christian Fischer.

You’re absolutely right. I’m sorry. Fischer is looking for a pay rise

It’s hilarious in hindsight, and cringy in real time to have to make those kind of corrections! Good catch!

"15. Liam Greentree, LW, Windsor Spitfires (OHL)
Height: Six-foot-two Weight: 211 pounds

Greentree is a safe bet who plays a power-forward role with elevated skill, especially in the goal-scoring realm."

I think Liam would fit the Yzerplan!
and just across the river!

"20. Michael Hage, C, Chicago Steel (USHL)
Height: Six-foot-one Weight: 190 pounds

Hage had a huge bounce-back season resulting in 1.39 points per game. He moves well and is involved in the play. When engaged, he is a threat whenever he comes over the boards."

Can always use a C!

"22. Adam Jiricek, D, HC Plzen (Extraliiga)
Height: Six-foot-two Weight: 178 pounds

Jiricek's size and two-way ability certainly tantalize scouts but he hasn’t played since the world juniors and several other defencemen have progressed more."

Me likes!

I’ll be honest, hoping to add C and D. I think hockeybuzzed said it well. Go for the high ceiling. We have a near glut of “multi purpose, multi use” players. We have to find that center. Very excited to watch Danielson at camp

The only reason these mock drafts suggest Nygard to Detroit is they know this is exactly the type of player this Yzerman/Draper-regime prefer. Hard working, 2-way, reliable, middle 6 forward with a low ceiling. So its not just me. All of these experts figure thats who the Wings would target. We need to stop this. Go sign Compher if that's what you need. Either target skill or trade the pick. What would it take to get Zegras and roll the dice that he takes a leap forward? This #1 with Berggren? Probably need to add more.

To be fair most of these mock drafts are always wrong on who the Wings will pick. Most of the time they just pick whatever Swede is slotted to go around their pick and call it a day.

They have looked a lot at Germany and Sweden. I did hear from someone I trust completely that the current staff isn’t as sold on collegiate free agents as Kenny was. The press core has a hard time getting info. Very tight group in the office

Agree. Most of these mocks are totally inaccurate. Just observing that several of these forecasters link this type of player with Detroit. People know we're very unlikely to swing for skill and tend to just make the safe pick.

I don't really like the Wings drafting NCAA players until they close that loophole that allows them to just become UFAs and pick n choose where they sign. You rarely get prospects from other leagues that refuse to sign with a team, try to force the team to trade them before they have even played a pro game or just refuse to sign to run out the team owning their rights so they can become UFAs. NCAA seems to be the most headaches league for this kind of crap.

I agree but would also add that they seem to also look at size a lot more. Last draft is the perfect example. You had Benson which was a highly skilled, high motor type but was small and they passed for a bigger less flashy Danielson. This could still work out for the Wings but personally i would have drafted Benson.

Feds, two questions:

1. Where ya been?

2. You wouldn’t take my cup of coffee bet last summer that compher would be better than Copp. So you don’t owe me, but I’m still going to make sure you have a little crow

1. Busy

2. Copp and Compher had identical 5v5 GF and GA so I’m going to say they both suck equally.
