Well thats a part of my other point in the previous thread about how necessary an effective bottom 6 is. When you have a 3rd and 4th line that cause disturbances in the offensive zone, it causes a defensive matchup nightmare for the coach. Maurice and the Panthers put their best defensive lines out there against Mika, making us a one line team and basically dare the bottom 6 to do something more than dump or ice the puck. - aecliptic
Well, it kinda helps for him that his best defensive line is his best offensive line, no? It's not like he's posting a Masterclass is tactics. |

Right and the popular argument for the pro-Zib guys is that even though hes not scoring neither is the opposing teams top line but the same can be said vise versa. Its all fine and dandy, except Florida is burying us in our own zone. Our 3rd line is getting demolished.

The real reason we are losing is because we can’t get out of our zone and we can’t score on the pp. some more pp goals is probably all you can ask for in this series with the way Florida has our number everywhere else. The series would’ve been very different right now had we scored even 2 more pp goals |

Thats what Im saying, were getting buried in our own zone. I attribute that to the fact that the team does not move the puck quick enough and when they do try its a predictable wrap around pass that the Panthers forecheck is telegraphing.
If that Zib PP shot in Game 4 goes in and doesnt hit the crossbar, were probably talking about a different series.
Ironically enough, were not getting blown out on the score sheet, although we are getting killed on effort. |

I completely agree, but I dont think thats necessarily because of speed alone. I think its because, as Ive said before, were predictable. 75%, atleast, of all of our possessions are within 2 feet of or on the boards. So if you know you can outskate your opponents and you have a pretty good idea that the Rangers are gonna wrap the puck around, it makes things a lot easier. Send one guy at the puck carrier, send one at the spot where you expect the pass to go. Done. Then the battles in the corners, were losing them because Florida isnt worried about getting the puck, they want to knock you on your arse and win the puck that way.
Then on the opposite end, were not finishing our checks. Everything is a stick check, soft push or rub off, that does nothing to disrupt the puck carrier. They blow right by our guys.
They need to come out tomorrow and take the fkn body. If we go down, they go down. Dont put yourself into a position where you miss a check and then end up behind the play. Get in front, hit him. Take him out the play. - aecliptic
I second all of this!

In no way was my statement defending Zibby et al about their defense. They are getting caved in. |

One of the biggest problems and really an all year problem is the ice time for the top guys. They’re gassed and facing the Panthers really magnifies it even more. It’s really burning them the bottom 6, and guys like Cuylle and Rempe ice time barely playing for long stretches. They need to roll 4 lines one o after another and aren’t doing it.

Playoff hockey has to have a certain mindset to win. You have to despise losing. Not sure zib Panarin or trouba hate to lose.
Tomorrow will be a defining moment again to change the narrative |

They should bring Messier into the locker room and tell these guys what leadership is and how it's done. Remind them in 94 Rangers were down 3 to 2. It can be done but honestly dont think the vets on this team have what it takes to get it done. Hope I am wrong |

You could say this about any team that hasn’t won. Every fan base says the same thing. It’s hard to win a Stanley cup so I think we use that against a guy far too much. Jmo. If Panarin was in Vegas he’d have a won a cup.
But because he makes 11 million dollars he’s supposed to be Superman people think he’s not trying he got 3 guys all over him every shift, what is he a (frank)ing Octopus?
The analogy of QB is good. Because a QB has much more control over a game than one single hockey player does. Whether that player makes 15 million or 2 million, is irrelevant. They don’t control a game 30 seconds at a time in football. People kill Dan Marino because he never won, and it’s makes more sense to say ok he really let that team down

Igor has been pulling magic out his arse the whole playoffs. He needs the team in front of him to help him. |

Edmonton is dominating this game. They would be no easy feat, for either East team, if Skinner stays on his game. He looks good tonight |

It’s a soul searching game tomorrow. Make
or break for a lot of guys, who will feel more and more pressure next year. No one big time is leaving imo, so everyone rally behind them for once, for one night, instead of waiting for “the other shoe to drop” for gods sake.
This site was a sewer this year, me included, during what has an imo been a fun ride that was highjacked by 2 people. And I vented frustrations today, and I’m sorry. I’ve finally decided to ignore them both from now on lol (for now). I’ll control myself

I know you don’t like the 94 reference. But in my heart it really applies right now I think they can pull it off. It’s feels like that day all over again, very somber one😔. Maybe it’s just my superstitions telling me |

I don’t care if Panarin isn’t scoring goals when laf is getting all the looks and putting them in for that line. Trocheck seizing the moment too. I care that mika and kreider haven’t done a thing outside of 2 shorthanded goals. A third line that can put pressure on but can’t score also sucks when half of your top 6 is invisible - picklerick
Man at this point I want to see us score like 5 or 6 goals and I want to see an igor shutout. I know it's a pipedream but give it to me now. Don't care how I WANT IT NOW!
