Tonight was probably Kakko’s last game as a ranger, should have moved him for a more meaningful upgrade at the deadline - TPC
Hawks will take him for a third round pick, maybe. |

I swear Zib was allergic to hitting someone tonight. So many times where I saw him in the offensive zone pressuring someone, and he cuts and turns after the puck is played without any physical contact with the player playing the puck. So frustrating. |

We have Hank 2.0 in Shesterkin. He was far and away our mvp this post season. We need to pay him as the top goalie in the league for a long time. And get better players in front of him. |

Kakko Lindgren Wennberg Roslovic Gus all shouldn’t and won’t be back. Not PO players. Chytl should be moved - nyrangers2
And you want a first rounder for any one of them, lol |

I'd argue that Shesterkin is a significant upgrade over Hank. But yeah, they need to surround him with better skaters. I'd like to see them go after Guentzel and maybe a little more skilled grit like Trocheck. Too bad Zib is eating up salary until the end of days.

The only aspect of this team that worth a damn for 2 decades. If he goes, they are DONE done. In a sick and twisted way, I'd be intrigued to see it. |

What an empty feeling right now. Absolutely gutted they couldn’t do it. I really thought they had what it took to get the cup this year. I can accept that they just lost to a better team. We can’t argue that. Florida was legit built for the playoffs. I don’t think we need to tear it down. Our window isn’t closing guys for whoever is saying that or thinking that. I don’t get that rational. Sure guys like Panarin, Kreids, and Mika are getting older but I’m not buying the fact that we don’t have what it takes. I do believe that we have some really tough decisions to make moving forward with certain players and see where we can make some additions.
Mika had a really tough series and it’s hard for me to not want to destroy the guy but he’s not going anywhere. Panarin wasn’t horrible but again not getting to the inside of the ice you can see makes a difference in his game.
I think we need to figure out what we are going to do defensively. I would love to get rid of Trouba but not sure how we could make that happen. His cap hit really hurts this team and doesn’t much of anything. He takes dumb penalties and I’m just over it. Fox definitely was playing hurt and it was very evident he was a shell of his former self. He needs to hit the gym this offseason and put on some muscle. Miller needs to be more physical. I know he has this long reach with a poke check BS but he doesn’t play as physical with his size and strength as he should be. Lindgren is a warrior and he needs to come back as the team just plays better when he’s in the lineup. Gus can go and plug Jones in that spot next season.
Kakko is as good as gone. No way I’m bringing him back. Just doesn’t do enough and at this point if he pans out someplace else then so be it. Not going to just continue to hope he hits his potential.
I think guys like Laf, Schneider, Cuyle, & a healthy Chytil will continue to grow and get better. Add in Othman and Perrault and things are looking optimistic. Trying to remain somewhat positive but this team will be back. They absolutely must get a RW this offseason who can be a difference maker.

Guentzel isnt a RW, neither is Othmann no matter how you want to color it. Also, my understanding is Carolina is making it a priority to resign Guenztel.
In the same ilk that Florida was constructed with the sole purpose of beating Tampa, we know how to figure out how to put together a team that will beat Florida. This team clearly lacks the desire and leadership to do so. |

Lets say we retain 1.5 to 2m on Zib's contract (basically pull what SJ did with Hertl), does it make it any more enticing for a team to want him? |

That's a hard sale given his age and term. You'd probably have to find a bottom dweller looking to take on salary in exchange for prospects or picks....then you'd have to convince a guy with a NMC to accept the move. Unfortunately NYR is most likely stuck with him for the next 5 years. |

Well, the back end term is horrible, but if you think about a playoff team who may be tight against the cap. Getting a 2 way player who can put up 80-90 points a year for the next few years while only paying 6.5m per year for it could be a worth while deal.
Thats essentially exactly what Vegas did, trading for a 30 year old Hertl, getting SJ to retain a little on the contract, so now they have a cost controlled center for the foreseeable future. |
|
|
|
Good run by the team but not good enough.
The second ecf trouba cost his team a back breaking goal to lose game 6.
This offseason Gus Roslovic wennberg all gone. Kakko shouldn’t be brought back. Lindgren only if the contract is ok but he isn’t a top pair dman anymore.
They need big puck moving defenseman and some fwds who can forecheck. This is their last shot bc they have to pay Laf and Igor after next year. When panarin becomes an FA they should replace him with and look to trade trouba that same year bc his ntc kicks in |

Trouba already has an existing 15 team NTC. Rangers are stuck with his sorry excuse of carcass. |

15 teams is still 15 teams, I think with 1.5-2m retention on his contract, teams would easily take him. Michigan is home, and I think with 2m retained, Yzerman would gladly take him, they need a RD. |

Well, let me ask you this. What has Hertl done in his career thats so much more significant than Mika's? Their contracts are very similar and they're the same age. Hertl was coming off of knee surgery too. Yet the return for Hertl was a 1st round pick and a prospect. |

3 years ago we got lucky playing 3rd string goalies, last year smacked down by the Devils, this year carried by Igor and another disappearing act by Mika. This team isn't built for the playoffs. Our first line had 1 goal in the series, no goals from the third line.
This team is built for the regular season, enjoy the Presidents Trophy |
