Like I said I don't want to trade him, but out of all of the core he has the best trade value right now.
Something has to change. You can't run it back with Zib, Trouba, Panarin and Kreider all at their current cap hits.
Would prefer Trouba gone but just don't see another team doing it
Free agency is less than a month away so trying to transition from another bummer ending to offseason talk lol - TPC
Much rather move zib or trouba then him

True but I was saying if you add his cap hit to the potential 5 million leftover cap space you will have then you can add a true impact player
Trust me would rather just keep him and move Trouba or Zib. That would be ideal - TPC

After you get past Stamkos, Reinhart and Guentzel, who moves the needle? Necas would require a trade, which isn't happening. |

No you cant. You essentially just break even. A guy like Marshassault is gonna get about what Kreider is getting right now. If you trade a Kreider to sign a Marsh, its essentially a push.
At the very least youre resigning Schneider, who will probably get like 3m per bridge deal. Then you got 2 RW spots, 1 LW spot and 2 LD spots and you have approximately a whopping 11m to do it. |

Only thing is he’s not really a problem as much as zib/panarin/trouba. Paid less than them and generally shows up in the playoffs so honestly feel like that just creates more holes/issues |

The question is would we be able to win a cup even with trading kreider and doing something big with the cap space? We would still have those huge dead weight contracts in Trouba and Zib on the team, and I don't think we're ever winning a cup with Zib as our 1C. So it's not really worth it in my mind, especially since krieder is a great value contract and usually shows up in the playoffs. |

I agree don't want to move him. Drury has to do something though to break up the core a bit. You can't just run it back |

Agreed though I think if that is the only option to truly break up the core it’s not one I would take cuz like t-dawg said the other dead contracts are still here and don’t know how we make them show up after April |

May need to test the trade market if you missed out on a Guentzel
I doubt it would ever happen but not sure what else Drury can do |

I think with 2m retained, a team would be interested. - aecliptic
Just curious.. would you want to keep him if he was making 2mil less? |

I think 6m per for a 30 year old, 2nd pairing defenseman is pretty on par with the market.
The thing is were fortunate to have Schneider, hes shown he and Miller can be a solid pairing for the future of this franchise and he needs a new contract.
With the current cap situation were in and what I think is a needed in a shake up, Id still move on from Trouba even if he was making 6m. If we didnt have Schneider, Im not sure Id still feel that way. |

Florida had I believe only 4 guys in their line last night ' up that they drafted. Florida obviously made some good trades but did pick up guys that teams didn’t really want or couldn’t protect. The rangers have to do their homework with what’s out there whether it’s in the nhl or ahl. Big off season to say the least |

This is why I say there some decent quality out there with Marshassault, Stephenson, Duchene, Toffoli, Necas but were in a really tight spot. |

I am sure they are avoiding this place because they know they were wrong. I’m not knocking them though because they were following their heart/gut. We all would have been happy if the rangers won. But if they come in here and say nothing needs to change, then… |

No. Kreider will retire having only ever been a Ranger and will be the last to ever wear 20 doing so. Would be nice to cement that with a Cup. |

Not too hard to do, IF those wing spots are taken up by Rempe, Othmann and Perreault and a D spot by Jones. |

Yea trust me I don’t want to, he’s my favorite all time ranger. Just trying to think what Drury could be thinking if he wants to make a major change |
