I have a question for everyone. If we were able to land Jonathan Huberdeau, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and Patrik Laine at retained cap hits. While ridding us of Reilly Smith and Ryan Graves this offseason and still having cap space to sign free agents and not giving up our top prospect Yager or a 1st. Would you make the trades?

Pittsburg needs too much to stay competitive. My prediction is the Pens sign Victor Olaffson from the Buffalo Sabres.

He gives you a sniper on the cheap so Pittsburg can afford to fill some holes.

2. but doesn't have to sign a large number of players
3. relatively consistent contender who can contend now

The cap went up significantly and Jake is arguably the top UFA on the market. At 29, teams may think the first 4-5 years will still be in his prime. So circumstances are right for someone to offer a stupid deal if that's what he wants.

At this point Laine would be 2RW or 3RW and 1PP. Probably 3RW to start.
