Hey if they could swap Cam for G I’d do it at this point. It at least gets us a center until we can develop someone.
I’d 100% rather trade 12th overall straight up for a young center with upside however. - hereticpride
Giroux with the NMC, I doubt he would waive.
I really think it's Chabot, seems like a Flyer move. 8m for 4 years left. Left side to pair with Sanheim and "fix" PP.
He signs a massive contract September of 2019 coming off a 55 point season playing 70 games then averages less than 60 games per season due to injury over the next 5 years. Sounds like he is built to be a Flyer.
Who would be a young center with upside that the team would be willing to part with in the league? |

Where is the Pinto on the outs coming from? - furio16
I’ll see if I can find an article but they were at a contractual impasse last year and are trying to iron one out now. |

But that’s not what you said. You said “we don’t have a goalie yet, just a bunch of maybes.” That means you’re intentionally acquiring him to be the goalie not just to make the salary work. - Schmojo
No, it means you don’t have any sort of answer at goalie so it’s a non issue to take on a goalie. |

I think he does. Also. Who is the sure fire stud we’ll pick at 7? It worries me because this isn’t a deep draft. - Hextall271
I think that’s a misconception. It’s not deep in that a late first is probably similar to an early 2nd last year or next year. Also, 2023’s top end was a little deeper. Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov would either be ahead or in the same tier as Celebrini. But the next 8 or so players in ‘24 are rated higher than Reinbacher, Simashev, Leonard, etc from ‘23.
At 7 the Flyers may end up with a potential #1 defenseman.
If the top 5 goes Celebrini, Levshunov, Silayev, Lindstrom, Demidov, then Flyers will be able to take one of Buium, Parekh, or D*ckinson. All 3 are said to have 1D potential. |

Not true. Reports are they’re discussing a two year contract. Ottawa wants to sign him for 5-6 years but Pinto wants 5 Mil and they don’t want to pay that much.

Looks like the top 13/14 guys have a chance to be a good player. |

Hard to say what young centers would be available but if there are good wingers and D available at 12 somebody might be willing to part with one to fill one of their other needs.
Just please no more injury prone guys. Its bad enough we already have Coots and Drysdale to deal with. |

Could be completely off base, but trading for Chychrun makes little sense. He will need to be extended, so that term will 8 years with a NMC. Sanheim already on an 8 year contract. York will either get a bridge or an 8 year deal by next summer. In theory, 3 Dmen locked in very long term. |

I made it easier to visualize:
They are not being pried from the team:
Suzuki (MON) 24, Stützle (OTT) 22, Thomas (STL) 24, J. Hughes (NJ) 23, Berniers (SEA) 21, Byfield (LA) 21, Cozens (BUF) 23, Fantilli (CBJ) 19, Bedard (CHI) 18, Carlsson (ANA) 19, McTavish (ANA) 21, Cooley (UTH) 20, Smith (SJ) 19
May take more than #12:

I just cant believe they would even be considering Chabot as Bill said before. 4 more years at 8 aav for a guy who cant stay on the ice would be insane.

Calgary has over 23 million in cap space now. They pick 9th and 28th in the first round.
I feel like there’s some sort of deal here that could get done. Would TK be a fit for them? |

Agreed. They’ve got to steer away from guys with injury history. The drysdale situation worries me to no end.

Or Chychryn for 8 years is better? I lean more towards the Flyers interested in a forward more then Sens blueline.

The vibe I am getting is the Flyers want a strong top 4 that has offensive punch, which I have no problem with. The problems I do have is:
1) No clear #1. Sure a lot of guys who can play minutes, but no real #1.
2) There is no real forward threat on the team, just a bunch of by committee guys.
If the team builds a great skating transition d-corp with no threat or options they are doomed. All those defensemen are going to look like trash when they don't produce.
What makes the Makar's, the Q. Hughes, the Bouchard's and keep naming them are their forward options.

Really? I could eliminate easily half of the realistic names I would not trade #12 for.
EDIT: correction 95% of the names |

To be fair I’m not really thrilled with the names on the board at 12 this year so I’m probably valuing the pick a lot less than you are. I would just much rather see them end up with a center than yet another good, not great wing prospect. |

There isn’t much on their roster that excites me. If they’re gonna do a deal with them I’m hoping it’s a smaller one.
They definitely need to stay far, far away from the injury prone D men tho. |

:goes back and rereads his post:
I didnt say a thing about Chychrun.
However, at least he only has one year left at 4.6.
I mentioned Chabot because Bill specifically mentioned him recently as a guy the Flyers covet. That would be typical, an oft injured long term contract.

This is why I believe if a deal happens with OTT it will be for Pinto. Flyers are so barren of young centers under the age of 25, Briere needs to start building depth for centers. Nice to sign guys like Poehling and SHL hopefuls, but they need to start doing better with Michkov here within the next 2 seasons. Makes sense for the Sens to move Pinto now with Stutzle and Norris locked up long term. Greig is on his ELC and can move to center.

It's not really about the value of the pick, to me most of those names are just a parallel move.
Would you trade Michkov to get the pick to select Demidov?
Now if they are able to get a young center from the pick instead of drafting a winger than maybe it would make sense, but that center can't just be another Frost.

Bill Meltzer: Quick Hits: Atkinson, Alumni, TIFH - bmeltzer
Bill is it not just as disrespectful for a team to pay a player 1/3 less of the contracted money? on a 5M dollar contract that equates to 1.667 MILLION dollars - that is insulting. If your argument is that they can go find another team to play for - that team that signs him knows that another team is paying him to play elsewhere - that is insulting
If the school I teach at said that we will pay x dollars for you NOT to teach here I would take that as a slap in the face |
