It's not really about the value of the pick, to me most of those names are just a parallel move.
Would you trade Michkov to get the pick to select Demidov?
Now if they are able to get a young center from the pick instead of drafting a winger than maybe it would make sense, but that center can't just be another Frost. - Glak18
I'm curious is there any forward prospect (besides Celebrini) you would like over D$ckinson?

I’ve actually thought about this. It would certainly help a lot of other pieces fall into place if they could do that…
But I think they’ve already put a lot of faith in Michkov being the future of this team to move him before he even comes over.

I’d take Demidov at #2 but not at the cost of Michkov. Demidov has seen a lot of ice in the MHL but almost nothing in the KHL

I made it easier to visualize:
They are not being pried from the team:

May take more than #12:
Zegras (ANA) 23, Lundell (FLA) 22, Johnston (DAL) 21
Realistic list of players obtainable:
Rossi (MIN) 22
Stramel (MIN) 19
Dach (MON) 23
Newhook (MON) 23
Beck (MON) 20
Brisson (VGK) 22
Pinto (OTT) 23

They did utilize their cap space last offseason to acquire more picks when they dealt Provorov. Having Peterson’s cap hit is a consequence, albeit necessary one considering they made out well in the deal. Same goes for what’s left for taking on Matt Duchene’s contract to get another first. I can live with these contracts knowing they’ve improved their chances of getting more talent in the future - Sublime55

The Phantoms had a good year and the younger players do seem like they are developing. In the end, the latter is the most important aspect of an AHL team, i.e. are the players developing. - jd250

If Briere can do the nearly impossible and get to #7- highly likely at least one of these forwards is there. I'm not shocked there is a rumor Briere wants to trade up, he tried last year. |

This is why I believe if a deal happens with OTT it will be for Pinto. Flyers are so barren of young centers under the age of 25, Briere needs to start building depth for centers. Nice to sign guys like Poehling and SHL hopefuls, but they need to start doing better with Michkov here within the next 2 seasons. Makes sense for the Sens to move Pinto now with Stutzle and Norris locked up long term. Greig is on his ELC and can move to center. - Troxell88
Ya we had a lot riding on Nolan Patrick. If he was the consensus #1 pick, i wonder why jersey took nico

I play for the Dallas Stars warriors. Sounds like I’m not much better than you hahaha. It’d be awesome to play some beer league or do a drop-in with you if you come play in DFW. |
