Good contract. Kid earned it and hopefully can solidify a fourth line role. |

Are you guys ready to trade us Noah Dobson for Mitch Marner yet? The Devils and the Caps improved their teams today. Does the Islanders fanbase feel the heat yet, seeing their closest rivals make big moves today? |

Does not matter if the fanbase feels the heat or not. Lou does not feel the heat. I would not trade Dobson for Marner.

Why would the islanders fanbase feel the heat? Could they fire us? |

May be a good time for that to happen. They could rehire me when they have a good team again like a true fair weather fan. |

he was a pleasant surprise last season. one of his old coaches said it best, said even though he is small he is scrappy and could make the NHL.

I could see Lou taking that 5.8 mil in cap space and spreading it out between
Wally
Ruslan
Simon
Aho
Reilly
and calling it an off season.

No, but we'll include it for $15 a month. Kind of like Netflix. |

Nothing would shock me including hearing “I believe in this group” for the fourth consecutive season. |

I'm relatively certain Aho is gone. Bolduc is younger and needs to get a shot at more playing time at some point.
It seems they're likely to move on from Wahlstrom too, but I'm not as sure on that one.
Iskhakov should be pretty simple. Probably a two-way deal at a sub-$1M NHL cap hit.
Holmstrom should be relatively simple also, don't see him clearing the $1M AAV mark either.
Reilly will be interesting. He was on a $1M deal last year but was very good as a third pairing guy that can play PP minutes. I could see him getting something like a two to three year deal at around $2M per. Whether that's here or not I'm not so sure about. I thought he was very good in the role he played, but he's also 31 and hasn't really been able to stick with any team so I don't know how confident I am that he'll maintain that level of play.
edit: 10 seconds after posting this I see Rosner linked a new article about Bolduc

I play Bolduc this year. He has the size and strength over Reilly. I let Reilly walk. You will never find out about Bolduc unless he gets consistent playing time. If the Islanders traded Palms, I think it would make sense to give Wally a last shot this year. I do not see this happening though. This year should be about moving out some vets and finding out about young players and especially with Pattrick as coach. |

Lou will never trade one of his Devil players, he seems to be running this team where he hires friends and old Devil players. Not whats best for the team.

Very interesting point. We have more former devils spread out through this organization than former Islanders.

If you want to build on your cap space. This one way to do it. I would give Bolduc 20 to 25 games. Run him out there regardless of any mistakes. As those 20 to 25 games approach, you make a decision. Are you going to give him another 20, send back to Bridgeport or trade him. My feel is that you need to make a move before he loses value as what we have seen with Wally.
Wally, I give him a one-year deal take or leave it deal.
