KFC didn’t want Patrick Kane for 1x $6.5? I’d much rather 88 be on Bedard’s RW than Bertuzzi.

Didn't want him period. Any confirmation that Kane was willing to come back to the Hawks?

Considering players like Sergachev and Chychrun are being given away, this doesn't bode well for the Canes and Necas.

Kane will return to end his career with the Hawks when they are ready to compete again.

It was a great day for KD. I like these moves a lot. Bertuzzi and Teuvo make a lot of sense. The rest of these deals are short and help them compete while letting their youth develop. They are much better today than they were when the season ended.

Flyers officially sign Michkov. Good on them. I'm excited to see the kid play.

There were a few hints last season that Luke Richardson was (privately) annoyed about some Blackhawks not playing through minor injuries, and he more directly :

I think they'll give Bedard a pass. They had to fight to keep him off the ice.

Some nice FAs still out there, wouldn't mind Walker

And or one of Henrique, Foegele or Sprong.

Sounded like he was open to it based on quotes in the media last year.

Decent day for KD.

Not sure what Smith has left but this is a better line-up than watching the Johnsons, Raddysh, Katchouk, Blackwells flounder all over the ice..

My guess is KD is just going to sit where he's at and see if any of these teams want to dump a quality player to sign their younger players.

They better have a lot of great prospects cause that team is going to get old real fast
- vabeachbear

That's the real question. Hockey has to be the hardest of the four major sports to evaluate. Part of it is because they are evaluating 18 year olds, not 21 year olds.

This year, it seemed that there was very little consensus on ranking prospects, as there were so many trades happening. Some tried to gauge where the tiers ended, and some seemed to believe there wasn't much of a dropoff from tier to tier, and had no problem trading down and stockpiling more picks.

The Hawks decided there were real dropoffs from tier to tier, and kept trading up, while giving up lower picks to do so. Carolina was more than happy to take the other side of two trades with them.

It would be interesting to see how different each team's board looked predraft.

Walker signed with the Canes and Foegele with the Kings.

I think if any other additions are made it’ll be a bottom-pairing d-man. Maybe a Justin Schultz/Colin Miller/Tyson Barrie type.

Quote from Richardson:

“You’ve got big guys who will get pucks like the Maroons, Bertuzzis, and we drafted guys like that for the future,” Richardson said. “Once we get it, we want to be fast — you’ve got the Teravainens that’s going to help us keep that puck even longer. I think that’s the plan, the longer the puck possession you have in this league the more you can do with it. It makes the other team frustrated and it takes them out of their game plan so that’s the way we want to play — fast and hard — and I think we definitely took a big step toward that today.

Ya, I would've taken Demidov and Eiserman. I'll be watching the

Leshunov/Boisvert vs. Demidov/Eiserman comparison for the next decade......

- vabeachbear

Eiserman seems like the kind of guy you lose playoff games with even when he scores.

Didn’t the Wild sign Suter? Dallas got him after he was bought out. Or am I mis-remembering?

Supposedly Boisvert hockey IQ is off the charts. I keep reading that in the evals and supposedly makes some plays that are holy poop plays. We'll see oh yea and he has that relentless drive to be a better hockey player.
- BetweenTheDots

There were some questions about his consistency of effort and mixed reports on his skating.

it was mentioned both seemed to get better in the 2nd half but at North Dakota he better be prepared to work on both cause its a solid program that attracts good player. He is going to have to earn his ice time.

Wild signed Suter to a massive longterm contract when he was among the best in the league. Stars signed him to a 4 year deal when he was already completely washed up. Not to say you can't complain about the term on the Wild's contract too
